Title: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Flrider on July 06, 2018, 01:12:05 PM I recently came into a Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust system with the cross over, the one with the round canisters and slash cut ends.
Unfortunately they did not include any mounting brackets, only two big clamps with a rubber seal, I have searched the web for pics or mounting instructions and cannot find any that will show brackets. Looks like there are some springs missing also. Anyone out there that would be able to help out with pics of mounting brackets/ mounting points / measurements, any info would be helpful so I can get an idea of how and where they mount. Maybe I can have some brackets fabricated. Can pm phone number if it makes it easier to send pics Thank you :cooldude: :cooldude: (https://s6.postimg.cc/xfsfygvpd/IMG_20180706_165841064.jpg) (https://s6.postimg.cc/8zaa402oh/IMG_20180706_165954311.jpg) Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Jess from VA on July 06, 2018, 01:32:30 PM Jack, I went and looked up Two Brothers Racing instructions, and got this link.
Nothing for Valk (long discontinued of course). If no one with personal knowledge (or photos) comes back, you can always try to go to Two Brothers direct and see what info you can get. They likely have no parts left, but they may have some old instructions with pictures (or other advice that might be helpful). I always call and ask for TECH support (for corporate knowledge). But sometimes an email might get a more thorough search. (Or both) Looks like they still make slipons for the F6B. https://www.twobros.com/pages/instructions-brands-t-z (https://www.twobros.com/pages/instructions-brands-t-z) Contact: https://www.twobros.com/pages/contact-us-two-brothers-racing (https://www.twobros.com/pages/contact-us-two-brothers-racing) Edit: Now seeing your pics, it seems likely that if those came off a Valk, the two rear mount bracket-hoops left marks on the cans where they went. A good guess would be they went to the Valk rear exhaust hangers (at the rear foot peg location). Also, that crossover may not go good with a center stand or belly tank or maybe even one of those permanent (or temporary) jack adapters. Just guessing, but food for thought. Thanks Jess I figured that the crossover would probably be no good with the belly tank/center stand/ adapter. I bet that the person that removed the exhaust did not know any better and left the mounts on the hangers just like you said. Seems to me that those round clamps go where those marks show on the canisters and I am guessing that they also work in conjunction with the mounting brackets. I will try to call the manufacturer on Monday and see if I get anywhere. I figured someone here might have the same exhaust and might be able to send me a couple of pics of the mounts. Thanks again :cooldude: :cooldude: PS. I was really surprised at how light this exhaust is Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: hubcapsc on July 06, 2018, 04:34:00 PM There's people on here who have them, try to keep your post bumped a while and maybe they will see it... I saw a set of those on a bike a few Fall Color Rides ago, and there was one at Pikeville or maybe InZane I saw recently. -Mike Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Jess from VA on July 06, 2018, 04:49:11 PM Well, I think a number of VRCC guys have/had the 2-Bros 6X6 like Cobras, but I don't ever remember anyone with the big cans. But Mike has seen them.
Speaking of big cans, those look like 5"(or bigger), unlike the 4" stock. So there could also be some trouble clearing OE Tourer or Interstate bag mounts/exhaust shields (though I think Mark T sells 5" so maybe not). I just know from cleaning my own pipes there's not a lot of extra room under there. On a Std, no trouble. Speaking of Mark T (the exhaust king), he might have some input if he reads this (or PM him). It would be nice to jack the bike up and just dry fit for an idea (and an idea of what kind of mount is needed), but pulling other pipes off to do it kind of sucks, if the 2-Bros aren't going right on. Dry fit might show all you need is a short piece of flat stock to connect round clamps to exhaust hangers (but bent L shape). You would think someone at HQ 2-Bros could at least help out with an idea of mounts and an old install sheet (emailed to you hopefully). Don't forget a new set of gaskets. Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: hubcapsc on July 06, 2018, 05:02:41 PM There was some cool stuff on Attic Rat's bike at InZane, maybe it was him who had the 2BRs... -Mike Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Flrider on July 06, 2018, 05:56:56 PM Jess
Yes, some BIG CANS there, 4 1/2" and it looks like they would extend all the way to the length of the bags. No immediate plans for them, If and when I mount them it most likely will be on a bag less Valk. Mike You are right, there a some here that have them but as said before, they are not common. Don't know of any of the Florida guys that have them. I will try to keep this bumped to the top as time goes by :cooldude: Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Hook#3287 on July 06, 2018, 06:14:08 PM I don't have a set of those pipes, but it looks like the brackets go around the cans and mount to the OEM bracket that the OEM pipes attach to.
Mounted just like the OEM pipes, at the headers and at the passenger footpeg bracket. Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Willow on July 06, 2018, 06:47:56 PM I had TBR canisters on my first Interstate. It is as Hook says. The clamps simply connect where the OEM pipes would be hung.

What is he looking for?

Mounted just like the OEM pipes, at the headers and at the passenger footpeg bracket. YES, that is what I was looking for and that would mean that I don't need any brackets :cooldude: If he will email me at theatticrat@cox.net I will send him pictures. FLRIDER I hope the pictures helped you out. As you can see in the pictures there is a bracket that bolts to the muffler hangers and that is what the band clamp bolts to. Also there is a rubber insert that goes inside the band clamp to keep it from scratching up the muffler. I add 2 stainless steel clamps on the crossover to keep the exhaust from moving around Regards, A R Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: Flrider on July 07, 2018, 07:13:16 PM Thanks Meathead for the nice comment on the Blue and White. Clamps do have the rubber insert but I am missing the bracket between the clamps and the mounting point on the bike. I used the stick on felts for furniture you can buy at Home Depot, bin on for over 100k miles.

Nothing for Valk (long discontinued of course). Last time I called Two Brothers, there wasn't anyone there that's was old enough to remember when they made pipes for the Valk, much less know anything about them. Same goes for Honda concerning the Valk. Title: Re: Need some help with Two Brothers 6 into 2 exhaust Post by: BigInSeattle on December 28, 2020, 10:49:01 PM I'm resurrecting this old thread. I have inherited a TBR six into 2 exhaust but I'm worried about the orientation of the brackets. When the bike is unloaded there is only maybe 1.5 inches of clearance before the brackets hit the rear end or the swingers on the other side. But, this is the only orientation of the brackets that will allow the exhaust to be mounts properly. When the bike is loaded there will be a lot more room but I'm worried about contact if the rear end is fully extended.

I've ridden with TBR 6 into 2 for several years and never had that problem.

I've ridden with TBR 6 into 2 for several years and never had that problem. I think it is OK. That is the ONLY way these brackets work. Once you pre-load the bike with my fat butt, there is a lot more clearance. You just can't get the muffler hangers to work in any other orientation. I fabricated some mounts and mounted them to the Bag rails. It looks like I have it correct. It looks like TBR must have changed from just putting felt inside the bands to rubber.
Thanks again to everyone for the help. |
