Title: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: Kaahn on February 23, 2019, 08:58:19 PM While trying to install the Jersey ECT mod, I broke the plastic push revit that goes inside. Here's a picture of the part and screw I am referring to:

I saw this on amazon but not sure if it will fit.. https://www.amazon.com/Honda-10mm-Hole-Plastic-Rivet/dp/B000NC0SA2 (https://www.amazon.com/Honda-10mm-Hole-Plastic-Rivet/dp/B000NC0SA2) Appreciate any help Title: Re: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: gordonv on February 23, 2019, 09:17:17 PM Things like that are available from your local auto parts store. They just may not be exactly the same, but you should find something that should work.
Whats wrong with contacting Jersey for the broken part? Either from him, or where ever he buys from, get the exact size/name and buy locally. Title: Re: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: Ken aka Oil Burner on February 23, 2019, 09:46:55 PM The piece that's broken on the end doesn't do much but hold the two tabs together for installation. As long as the two pieces are connected to the head of the base, the insert "screw" will push them apart once inserted, which is what holds the pin and panel in place. You'll just need to squeeze the tabs together to insert it through the plastic cover and hole in the frame, then put the center "screw" in.
Title: Re: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: flash2002 on February 24, 2019, 03:22:47 AM I bought rivets of different sizes on E-Bay and they are a good price. It's nice to have a few sizes for different jobs.

I just replaced the center part with a screw and it's held even after several removals and re installations
Title: Re: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: cookiedough on February 24, 2019, 05:07:14 AM can you get the exact width and length from mfg.? If so, local Oreilly's, etc. should have them but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for a set of 2 or 3 of them, like 1 buck each for only 1 plastic push pin. I went into local OReillys auto parts store and counter lady said if does not fit, bring it back and get you rmoney back so worth a shot, but ask first.
Or, do as said and buy an assortment of plastic push pins off of Amazon.com and take your chances buying a pack of 50-250 assorted sizes and hope one fits. Or, I have not tried it yet on my cars rocker panel being plastic with plastic clips (one having an odd size upfront was missing but used something else laying around up in there for now that holds but not great) went to local Farm and Fleet and think this (although white not black) might hold fairly well being pop toggles. Anyone EVER use these pop toggles before? I think they would work? Hey, for 2 bucks for a pack of 6, worth a shot vs. Oreillys, etc. spending 3 bucks for 2 to 3 black push rivet anchors. https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/1111395-hillman-pb-pop-toggle-5-8.html (https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/1111395-hillman-pb-pop-toggle-5-8.html) Title: Re: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: MnM Valk 97 on February 24, 2019, 06:25:49 AM P/N is 90683-GR1-003. $1.71 from Southern Honda Powersports. Item #22 under Frame. I just bought a couple, so they're still available.

ECT mod was Definitely worth it Title: Re: Broken Plastic push rivet Post by: Gryphon Rider on February 25, 2019, 07:59:42 AM The thing about the style of fastener pictured below, is that they are a pain to pry open, sometimes needing two screwdrivers, one on each side, to pry them up. That's fine for a fender liner or plastic air dam under the bumper of a car, where no-one is going to notice if you gouge it while removing it, as most of them require a fair amount of force to pry out the pin. I think Honda used the right fastener there, such that you can use a screwdriver to remove the pin, leaving it looking nice.
