Title: EBC Rotors/ Discs
Post by: Leathel on February 24, 2019, 09:29:02 AM
My front discs are down to min spec, I am looking to lighten the unsprung weight so was looking at the Vee Rotors from EBC... Anyone running these?

This is the options they have listed

Get a set from an 1800 wing. Perfect fit and lighter. I had a set on my '98 Tourer. Try Pinwall or Ebay to save money. Partzilla.com for new ones.

Right, I'd stick with Honda OEM or GW rotors.

There are 2 sets on Pinwall but being on the other side of the world has its drawbacks with freight .... but I will look into shipping via a US agent (Have a youshop address....if I can remember my password)

Looking locally for used Goldwing ones ATM but no joy so far.

Partzilla for goldwing discs, freight and converted to NZ dollar is $820 a pair (Adjusted as I forgot freight)

I can get new EBC discs for $520-$580 NZ depending on which set I get (ex UK)

mmmm I just searched Ebay UK and found a few Used Gwing used discs that will ship to NZ

On Ebay USA I couldn't

But the weird thing is most UK ones are listed being sent from USA??

I replaced the front rotors on my '98 Tourer with EBC. They have been great.

Just for comparison, my new EBC MD1014X rotors weigh 45.5 ounces, or 2.85lbs each.

Finally I have some front discs here, fitted the rear a couple of weeks back, the front were in NZ in 4 days from Italy but after clearing customs took 9 days to get to my town, Usually same day but UPS use castle pastels that don't come to my town so they fob it of to another company that does Rural work....

I don't expect the discs will be much lighter than worn out OEM ones as they are 3mm thinner than the new discs (OEM are as min thickness) will try to remember to put them on scales to compare when fitting them :)

I did get a no name rear disc for little $$ to try, so far so good

The worn out rear disc was 496 grams (1lb) heavier than the new disc and with OEM pads they are working well

I have Brembo front pads and they look like the same compound as the OEM rears so time will tell how they go, I went for what Brembo recommended to match the disc and my needs, they have 4 different sets for Valks..... Will update when fitted

These were on special and worked out to be quite a bit cheaper than OEM Valk or goldwing discs...std price and I might have gone a different way? They look good though

I'm interested in getting a set of these for a front wheel I'm going to powdercoat black.

What did you end up running as far as brake pads?
