Title: Collar stay(?) in faring Post by: Mike in AR on June 20, 2019, 03:55:10 PM I was removing the front panels, where the speakers are, and I had two screws that just turned and would not come out. I pried the screw, and the stay out with plans to put them back into the fairing with some JB Weld. The problem is that I messed one up while getting the screw out of it. I have tried to find them on the OEM parts filch, looking at the fairing, and the meter filches, with no luck. Does anyone have a source for this part, or do you have to order the whole fairing? Also, what is it actually called? lol Any help would be appreciated.

I bought them over the counter at Honda. da prez Title: Re: Collar stay(?) in faring Post by: Mike in AR on June 20, 2019, 11:26:42 PM meathead, thanks for the lead to the part number. I was so busy looking for them on the parts filche that I forgot to check the generic parts page that I saved.
da prez, thank you for the information about the ABS black plastic glue. I have never heard of it before. Where might I find it. I have used J B Weld on them before. Seems like it might have been the same ones that are giving me a problem now. lol I thought J B Weld would fix anything, kind of like Duck tape :2funny: Title: Re: Collar stay(?) in faring Post by: mikeirion on June 21, 2019, 05:22:55 AM I recently did the same job with regular 30 minute 2 part epoxy (from the hobby store for my model planes) and it held great. I put some Vaseline on the screws and put them in while the glue dried.
Title: Re: Collar stay(?) in faring Post by: Mike in AR on June 21, 2019, 03:17:56 PM Just an update. Tried two Honda shops to see if they had any of the inserts. Neither one had them, so at the second one, I had them order me about 5 of them. Should be in some time Tuesday.
Thank you all for the help and information. They are still holding 5 years later.Title: Re: Collar stay(?) in faring Post by: da prez on June 21, 2019, 05:21:03 PM ABS black plastic glue is a plumbing product. A good hardware store or plumbing supply. ONLY black glue , not multi use.

A small amount on the screw. They have a shoulder, so you just need to tighten till they stop, don't tighten them more. Everything you did was right.
