Title: So who’s braving this snowstorm?
Post by: Jersey mike on January 29, 2022, 03:32:41 AM
Here ((6:30am) on the Jersey Shore winds are whipping and sideways snow is blowing. Hard to say from just looking out the window but I’m guessing there’s about 8” on the ground and some pretty big drifts in others. Certainly is blizzard like out there.

From what I can see from living room window it looks like plow may have made a single pass sometime in the night.

My E150 van looks like it came out of a wind tunnel with how the snow is blown off the roof.

Weather channel’s radar show it pushing out about 1pm, I’ll fire up the snowblower in an hour to get some stuff cleared and do a final blow and shovel later.

Everyone else who’s stuck with this thing, hope everything goes ok for you and power loss is kept to a minimum.

Lucked out down here in NoVA.  Less than an inch but frozen crusty everything.

Frozen all day, but warming the rest of the week.

Quite cold down here in Sarasota, it got all the way down to 49°. It is time for all the 1970s heavy coats to come out.

Was 31*F when I took the dogs out this morning.   They did their business and were not shy about wanting to come back inside.

Me, I stood at the gate wearing a Tee Shirt, shorts and house slippers wondering how far further south I needed to move to stay out of this kind of weather.   No one ever claimed I was the brightest bulb in the chandelier.   :uglystupid2:

walked to the woodpile and brought in enough wood for a full day fire

About 6 inches so far, maybe falling half an inch an hour

so far so good

hang in there anyone on the east coast saw the weather channel and some areas supposedly 18-24 inches of snow - YIKES!

I think here in WI in one snowfall event I can only remember 2 snowfalls being 18-20 inches in past 50 years those 2 being not recent either at all.

It is amazing to me what the wind can do though with only 3-4 inches on the ground.  We had 30+ mph winds constant for a full day with 2-4 inches on the ground of snow and all along our backyard open field behind our house in the yard was a 3 foot drift line of HARD compacted snow.  If we get anywhere near 10 inch snowfalls the windtunnel between my house and neighbors house filters right in front of our garage door.  A few times with higher winds I have had a HUGE concrete drift smashed up tight onto our garage door near 4 foot high snowbank piled high having to shovel thru it.  And yes, I have tried the 50 ft orange plastic snow fencing with metal fence posts those years along that windtunnel in backyard alongside house as well and did no good.
