Post by: DIGGER on December 03, 2023, 11:13:43 PM
Had a near perfect day today.    Got up andfixed a little breakfast.    Beautifull riding weather predicted...2% chance of rain.....62 degrees and up to 72 degrees predicted....got the wife's ok....got the Valkyrie out and rode backroads around 160 miles to my hunting lease in Jarrell Texas.    Borrowed a friends 223 AR15.....got in my deer lease truck.....went out and shot a 120-130 lb feral sow hog..... came in and dressed it out....gave the meat to the friend.....he and I got in his truck and went into town and had a big plate of Mexican food  washed down with two frozen margaritas........came back to the lease and went to bed early.......

Life is good.....

Digger,

I'm not very far from you right now, and I couldn't agree more that yesterday was a fabulous day for a ride... I even took one myself! I didn't have any margaritas, sadly, but I did find myself grinning from ear to ear throughout the ride!!!

I'm so jealous...you having weather you can ride in and all! I had to finally pull out my furlined jockstrap so as to protect things for the upcoming 6 month hibernation.  >:(

Riding, shooting, eating good, margaritas and a nap.  That is a perfect day.   :cooldude:

Historically, there were as many hunters in Michigan woods during deer season as we had front line troops in Europe in WWII.  I was out there with them a few times, and I remember a farmer coming out and saying none of his cows had big horns (so don't shoot any of them please).    ;D

The other story I remember was a big dear hunt lease had a bunch of guys who hired working girls to keep them company back at the cabin.  Well those guy's wives drove up to surprise them, and when they hit the gate to the lease, the caretaker told them they better shove off as those guys already had their wives with them.    :o
