That short pump needs a sidesaddle (for 5/6 extra rounds).  It makes it heavier, but not too heavy.

Ya Jess that wouldn’t be a bad thing. But, that little 20ga is indoor protection. I hope I never need it but I can’t imagine needing more than the five it carries.

Shotguns need love too.

Of course you're probably right.

I have two Remy 870 short bbl riot guns and both wear loaded sidesaddles (and both with extended mags, to 7).

Both are for home protection (hard to hide under a jacket), but you never know if you have to run around or outside in a fracas.  And I'd hate to run short of ammo in a fracas, or get pinned in place and run out.

Nice. The first shotgun I ever bought new was a Harrington Richardson Topper model 12 gauge from K-Mart back in 1984 for $59.99. Looks like the single shot in your picture.

My Maverick 88 seemed lonely. Grew up watching old western movies/shows. Always sort of admired the “shotgun “ guy next to the stage coach driver. Even though he was the first person shot by the bandits. Picked up a Stouger Double Defense a couple weeks back. I initially thought I wanted a coach gun with wood furniture. Well the Double Defense is all black plastic furniture with rails. Now as long as the 88 and the Double Defense don’t get intimate. Hum shorty over under.

I am not sure when I got them but for some reason at some time, I purchased two single shot shotguns. 

One is 12 gauge (for me) and the other is 20 gauge (for the wife). 

So, you shamed me into cleaning them.  Cleaning "kit" had not been used for a while but.... Seems to work.

I clean stuff after shooting and put it away.

Except for black powder (which seems to often need to be cleaned a 2d time later after the first time), my stuff doesn't get dirty again sitting in the safe. 

When I took a job as a (night) security guard in a warehouse one winter during college, the day guy was an old fellow long past retirement age, but he had been there forever.  We swapped 12hr shifts, 7 days.  When I asked to see his sidearm (.38 Smith) he pulled it from his holster and showed me, and it was clear it had not been out of the holster for years.  It was crammed full of dust bunny fuzz, and dirt, and all the primers in his ammo were leaky green. 

Bob, that thing is filthy and needs a clean, and throw that ammo out and put in new.

Yes, I clean right after shooting and again after 2 weeks or so I consider it clean after the second one. Then if not used. I’ll do a cleaning day which is mostly an oiling day every 3 or 4 months.

It's pretty clear you like to take good care of your possessions.

So do I.  An ethic passed to me from my parents (and the Boy Scouts).   :)

I have a pretty small place, so I've always spent time storing like-things together, so I can find them later.

Lately though, I find I end up hiding things from myself.

BTW, a 2 3/4" OO buck shell weighs around an ounce.  So my 7 shot tube 870s, with 6 more in their sidesaddles, add a little under a pound to the shotgun.   

got one of those as well same topper model 12 as you mentioned, was my dad's am sure he bought in early 80's as well under 100 bucks brand new when I was young.  I vaguely shooting it a few times as a youth and if recollect, it had a huge jump UP to it after shot since so lightweight.
