During the time I was with Rita(RIP) in Winter Park, Florida we had two deputies(now retired) as neighbors, both great neighbors and good friends. When Nancy and I spent a couple months in Fla. last winter, she was introduced to them and all had a great time chatting with her. As many of you know, Nancy doesn't know a stranger. ;D What got a good laugh was when I related to her, in front of both deputies, the fact I gifted them both a box of donuts upon their retirement. All wrapped up nice and with a big bow on the box. Their LEO buddies at the time brought the house down with uncontrolled laughing and teasing, followed by a bunch of tales of the retiring person. I got a chuckle out of the attached video cuz it reminded me of good times.

And FWIW, there is a donut shop in the Orlando area called Valkyrie Donuts...now it's Valk related.  ;)

What a thoughtful gift.   :cooldude:

And a great story.   :2funny:

Riding home down the freeway today (ahead of the rain), I made out a very sneaky unmarked PD car ahead, and slowed down and paced him well back.

Several other clueless guys didn't, and he lit them up.

I don't know about you guys, but the unmarked are getting harder and harder to spot.  I run around 5-10 over without much worry (never in neighborhoods), but most of the time I run faster is when I have some maniac out ahead, then stay back and pace him.  8)

Back 20 years ago when I was still working, I had a couple years where I had to go to another office to cover it.  some 120 miles away on a long, lonely highway.   Since it was against the policy to have radar detectors, I would set cruise control at 5-8 over legal and wait for a vehicle going a lot faster.   After it passed, would hang about a quarter mile back and follow.  Figured could see the brake lights and cut speed.  We would be going 20 Plus over the limit.  Sometimes it was a bit more.   :2funny:  Sure, made those miles go by a lot faster.

Pacing a guy running 20 over a quarter mile ahead is the best fuzzbuster there is, and it's not illegal anywhere.

Course rolling around a curve or over a hill with multiple PDs sitting there can still get you in trouble.  In VA, they used to do that all the time on 2lane I-81S down the backbone of VA, with many long hills with semis slowing and guys flying past up the hill, and just over the crest, multiple state policeman with radar and performance awards for everyone.    :crazy2:
