Post by: Rams on December 22, 2024, 05:29:31 AM There was a time I'd have tried just about anything, then I discovered that falling down hurts and can get expensive. The chances of me riding now in the conditions shown in those two videos are way less than zero.
But, if ya have an itch, then I guess ya better scratch it. Let us know how that works out. Rams :rider: Title: Re: Some People Just Gotta Ride.... Post by: Jersey mike on December 24, 2024, 03:09:50 AM If a full snowsuit and heated gloves I’d be willing to try the snowmobile bike a try for about 30 minutes or so, definitely would not spend hours out there riding.
I haven’t ridden a bike on the road in snow in a few decades, it wasn’t fun then and I doubt it’s any fun now…well maybe a 150-250cc dirt bike up and down the street through the neighborhood I’d give a whirl but definitely need warm clothes. Title: Re: Some People Just Gotta Ride.... Post by: 0leman on December 24, 2024, 08:01:43 AM Back in the Middle 70's, I had a 71 Honda 450 with trial tires. WE had one 4 wheel vehicle and wife needed it so rode the bike back and forth to work year around. We were living in central OR as the time. So, yeah there was periods of snow on the ground. One morning there was somewhere around 4" of new white stuff on the roads. As I left our housing area to get on main road into town, I was going too fast and couldn't stop. Not sure how I did it, but I managed to slide thru the intersection and make a perfect left-hand turn heading into town. No I didn't have to change my shorts.
Most of the time the roads were sort of clear by lunch and totally clear by time to go home. Would I do that sort of thing now, NO. Title: Re: Some People Just Gotta Ride.... Post by: Rams on December 24, 2024, 08:26:10 AM Would I do that sort of thing now, NO. Experiences (both good and bad) really educates us on what is the appropriate thing to do.. At one time, very little would keep me off two wheels now, I use a bit more better judgement. ;) Falling down/crashing hurts and is expensive. Don't ask me how I know this.
