The upstate part is pretty cool... I was at Unadilla the rainy year that Bob Hannah won the 125 class, Jeff Ward won the 250 class, and Ricky Johnson out-classed everyone else in the whole world by a long shot in the 500 class. 1987... Around 1973 or so me and some boys went to Road Atlanta and saw Hieki Mickola and Roger DeCoster and all those guys... it was an innocent time then, we were just little kids, and we snuck into the pits and walked around looking at all the bikes - we weren't supposed to be back there, so we didn't talk to the riders, we just tried to look nonchalant (oh yeah, those guys belong here ;) ) Back then the Europeans were the superstars, and they were all there... Big AL The guys today do stuff those guys couldn't do (their bikes wouldn't do it, that's for sure)... but now it strikes me as a circus spectacle, back then it was RACING...
