Title: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Post by: Michael K (Az.) on July 29, 2010, 08:03:59 AM Brought to you from the studios of "Caveat Emptor"
one take,"ya get what ya pay for" school of music! A coupla things to note: 1. I kept looking off to my left cause I was watching CNN and was following a story. Guess the old "laser" like focus must be slipping somewhat. 2. Also it was nice to have Dire Straits stop over to my bedroom to jam and Mr. K. was gracious enough to let me cover his lead lines. :D Borderline Valkyrie related due to the artwork on my right. I guess this is what you do when you're old and decrepit, (read retired). Gonna be 111 degrees again so here's another flick warts and (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7Uptemrj6E#normal) Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Post by: therapist on July 29, 2010, 10:48:29 AM WOW...I am very impressed Michael, didn't know you had the chops. What kind of axe are you playing (this is me trying to act like I can talk guitar)?
As for the glancing at the TV, you have a common condition known at ORGADD or old retired guy attention deficit disorder. I have the same condition. Retired only 2 months and haven't even scratched the surface of the "to do" chore list. I have been an extra in a movie, and in a TV show (shooting this Monday). I have been writing web articles for small change and want to go sky diving really bad. What is happening to us? I think it's a case of regression. Soon my acne will reappear and I'll want to buy a motorcycle...oh wait, I already have one of those. Keep on strumming buddy! :cooldude: Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Post by: John Schmidt on July 29, 2010, 11:12:06 AM Hey you old fart, that's pretty good. I can sing, dance, and play the radio...maybe we should go on the road. Guess that's one kind of regression you can do without after the years you've already spent doing it. Just trying to figure out what all the ginding and creaking noise was I kept hearing, then I realized it happened at the same time you started to move with the beat. Rita tells me when I move like that it reminds her of the farm...thrashing machines mostly. By the way, she liked the video also. But then....she also married me so what can I say about her taste. :2funny:
Actually old friend, it sounded good, the guitar is one instrument I've always wanted to learn, just never took the time. Other than voice, the last instrument I studied was piano more years ago than I care to remember. Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Very nice props Valkflyer, but we know better. :) Yep Therapist, got the chops,40+ yrs, I'll keep goin till I get it right. That guitar is a Steinberger knock-off made by Hohner, call it my Hohnerburger. I guess I suffer from ORGADD also. So bored today I went to the dentist and now my fingers are numb so pardon any typing errors. So how do you get those glamor jobs? I did some walk-on work on Cannon and Baretta back inna day but no call-backs for 30 yrs or so. Guess they weren't very impressed. As soon as they let me use adverbs I hope to be writing too!! Hey John! If you can play the radio, I can always tuna fish!! :D Don't know about that creaking sound but I've been noticing with my added mid-section weight, parts don't stop jiggling till halfway thru the next tune! All those years riding with you and all my other Florida buds, I kinda kept my old line of work on the down-low. Thanks Timbr, haven't met yet, but I like your style. :cooldude: Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Post by: Michael K (Az.) on July 29, 2010, 02:56:19 PM FREEBIRD...FREEBIRD...FREEBIRD ;) Joe, you just wouldn't believe how many requests my various and sundry bands would get for that tune! After a while, I'd just reach in my pocket, pull out my "expression finger" and say, "here, no charge!" Of course many interesting and varied responses could be expected. No offense, I know ya like them rockers. :coolsmiley: Most players just got real tired hearing crappy versions of that song. Other songs that ended up wearing out their welcome on my bandstands: Louie Louie Proud Mary Cocaine Man, I'm gettin a headache, gotta stop. Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Post by: Michael K (Az.) on July 29, 2010, 02:58:54 PM WOW!! I didn't even see your lips move!!!! :cooldude: Yeah, I went ahead and let Mark sing it, he was just standin around with nothin to do. (ironically, people tell me that during solos my lips are goin a mile a minute, go figure.) Title: Re: O.K. now I'm just showin off!! Post by: therapist on July 29, 2010, 03:33:11 PM Michael, you wouldn't believe how the film industry has invaded Michigan, since our Gov. gave away the store in tax breaks. I have lost count with how many movies, some quite major, are or have filmed here. I just signed onto a couple casting companies and they email me when there is work. Unfortunately, I end up turning down most one day gigs because I live so far north...they arrive with very short notice. I will be on the pilot episode of Detroit 187, filming at the airport on Monday. That airs on ABC in the fall. Unfortunately, shortly after I committed for that, there was an opportunity to be in LOL, a movie with Demi Moore. They wanted a "French looking Dad". Well, I have French in me but as far as looking French...
I will never know if I would have gotten it because they are shooting on the same day as the TV show. Sure wouldn't have minded seeing Demi up close and impersonal :D It's just fun stuff. You end up a blur in the background most times. |
