He mounted the carbs a$$ backwards and then put these little breathers on where they would normally go into the airbox.....

Ass backwards sounds like a technical term.  ;D  I figured thats what he did but there has to me more to it for the connections from the carb bank.  Also, I wonder how much tuning would need to be done for the assumable increased air flow.

Been done before.

This modification will never increase HP as there is increased turbulence at the filters and it does nothing but increase the air flow resonance, thus causing a imbalace in jetting/intake flow.

He did not do a Desmog after this extensive modification. That sure seems counterproductive considering the amout of work involved.

That bike also has shortened Cobra pipes. It is most likely very LOUD!!!

That guy most likely rode with a Harley crowd. You know the type,...all show,...no go!

Extensive tuning. Extensive issues to resolve.

I thought the filters sticking out like that may not be a benefit, but it looks cool.  I have the Cobras that I cut down also and love the loud sound.

It looks cool.  Other than that I doubt if there is any advantage.

Over in Japan there must be a Honda engineer looking at those pictures, saying, "突拍子もない  米国人", which translates to, "Crazy American".

He succeeded in making the engine area down right ugly  :crazy2:

Title: Unless you have seen this bike in person...

It would be difficult to speak intelligentlyy about it. There  are 2 people that have does this modification that I am aware of. Mike Sheets and Trick Rick. Both would tell you if they had to do it over again they would not. In short it was much more than turning the carbs around. Mikes bike, the one here, will blow any other valk out of the water. I have seen it in action. His bike is a real fire breathing dragon. The bike is very loud, he does run with the harley group but I do not know what George means by we know the type. Sounds very steroetypical of you George. This is am amazing machine and can only be appreciated by those who could have the oppportunity to see it in action.

Actually, I believe Tiger was the first to do this mod. A long Long time ago. As I remember... they had problems with the air flow over the stacks actually pulling fuel out of the tops of the stacks.

I don't know who was first and this is not exactly the same, but I took this pic in June of 2000 out in front of Crossroads MC in New Castle PA.  I believe this was the prototype for the kit that UFO marketed briefly.

If you like the looks of these little filters out there, you can do that with no modifications to the bike.

You buy 6 little breathers and stick them to the top of your carbs.    For the short time I had mine on, for looks only, I used some Velcro on the carb tops and a matching piece in the filter throat.....   Ya need small hands to get the Velcro in the filter..........   I got tired of having to reset them on the tops as people always walked up and grabbed one.  If it came off they did their best to get it back on, but never got it back the way it was.....   Then some kids tried stealing them and that really ticked me off.....

There was an article in Motorcycle Cruiser about 2005 with a custom Valk theme.
A bike in there had turned out carbs and a lot of work, claimed 126 HP.
