Title: brake rotors Post by: N0tac0p on March 31, 2009, 07:38:14 AM Are there better rotors out there that will fit the 01 I/S, to get better braking (especially the back). seems i've got the lean on it to get the beast to slow down
Title: Re: brake rotors Post by: DFragn on March 31, 2009, 08:17:58 AM Most of your braking is with the fronts. Hence, 2 rotors to stop the beast. A single rear will not be as effective as the double, especially without applying the fronts.
Is the pedal spongy? If so they need to be bled. How long since a fluid flush? Over 2 years too long... Pad condition? Some prefer the EBC Rotors & Pads. You must use EBC pads with their rotors. EBC pads on OEM rotors are very noisy and diminish the life of the OEM rotors. Many recommended not using EBC pads on stock rotors. A car tire does seem to effectively enhance rear braking, especially on wet pavement. But a car tire is not for everyone due to slight handling characteristics. However, I have never heard of a solution. Several years ago I had two '98 Valks, a standard and a tourer. The standard's rear brake always seemed to work better than the tourer ard and I never figured out why (Yes, I know they're the same). The tourer felt a bit spongy regardless of how carefully I bled the system. However, the Valks rear brake does work well enough to lock up if you're not careful :o
Title: Re: brake rotors Post by: John U. on March 31, 2009, 03:15:33 PM The weakness could be worse due to brake line expansion. I have a Standard and IS, the Standard has fewer miles and the rear brake especiallly seems stronger.
