Title: Steering Nut Tool Post by: Chattanooga Mark on February 17, 2012, 07:04:59 PM What's a good source to purchase the socket needed to adjust the steering head nut?
Thank You, Mark Title: Re: Steering Nut Tool Post by: Bullgoose on February 17, 2012, 07:29:53 PM I'd just ask to borrow one. Many have made their own or had someone make one for them.
Title: Re: Steering Nut Tool Post by: John Schmidt on February 17, 2012, 09:25:35 PM I'm not near the shop right now so can't tell you the size, but I made one from a deep well impact wrench socket. Don't try cutting notches in it with a hack saw, you need an air driven die grinder with a cutting wheel on it. Cost was well under $10.

Since you don't list your Email address, if you email me I'll send you the seller's info. Daniel Meyer (http://lifeisaroad.com/) has used the item and in an earlier post said it works fine here (http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,31752.msg292622.html#msg292622). You don't need much torque and I had the adapters to get from 3/4 drive down to my 3/8" torque wrench. It was less than $20 and now I have a 1 11/16" socket sitting in my tool box. I didn't even have to grind on it.
