Haven't visited the Memphis Shades windshield site for awhile, but recently came across a Spoiler Batwing Windshield that fits their batwing fairing.  This is a recurve design similar to what some other manufacturers have.  Different  than a regular windshield, the recurve sends the air stream over the head of the driver.  It looks like it creates a calm air pocket and still allows you to look over the recurve windshield.

I have a regular  12" batwing windshield that works well without any real buffeting, but does not create a calm air pocket unless I duck down.  The windshield is at proper height.

Anyone have one of these Memphis Shades Spoiler Batwing Windshields?  Do they work as advertised?

I would like to know also, I feel minor buffeting, but my wife complains that it is terrible with the shield I have on it now.

I'm about 6ft tall, and long in the middle. I have a memphis shades batwing
and their 12 inch (tallest) shield, no recurve. I still get plenty of buffeting
even with this setup.

This new 9 inch curved shield looks good. Wonder if it works well.

My buddy has one on his harley and it works great, lets you go with a shorter shield but with the wind protection of a taller one. Think he said his is a 6" shield but acts more like a 12"

I have about 1,000 miles behind the 9" Spoiler windshield in ghost grey I installed last month and can say it may be a slight improvement over the 12" straight shield I rode behind for almost 44,000 miles since May '10.  By placing fingers at the top while riding into a headwind, I wish it were at least 2" taller.  3" would be even better.  I don't know why they don't offer anything taller unless the load would be too great on the structure. 

It does look cool, though.

I bought the Long Rides 12" Clear Ultra for the 2002 Valkyrie Standard.  This is the recurve design to replace the Memphis Shades regular style (MEP8530) that measured 12" from the center fastener to the top of the windshield.  (I previously id'ed this windshield as a 9"...brain fart...it was on my Harley.)

It works great.  I took it out for a 100 mile ride on the windy California coast.  There was NO wind hitting my helmet, and much lighter wind on the shoulders.  Placing my hand one inch in front of my helmet, I could feel the air being directed up and over the helmet.  There was no turbulance even with a short 90 MPH burst of speed, but I held on with both hands!  Altogether, a great improvement over the regular Memphis windshield that did a pretty good job.  I'm 6'-2" and I could probably use even a 13" or 14" size, but the 12" worked just fine.

The Long Rides installation instructions caution you to inspect the windshield for proper size before removing the clear protective film.  The mounting holes looked real close, so I went ahead, but found that I needed to file the outer holes about 1/16" wider to get a proper fit.  Also, the Longrides windshield overlaps the outer edge of the Memphis fairing by 1/4 inch on each side.  Not a big deal, just want to mention it.

If you need a recurve taller than the 9" Memphis Shades recurve windshield, I would recommend the Long Rides version.  There is also a coupon code discount (HDF20) that worked as of 5/13/13.  You first have to register an account on the Long Rides site before selecting your product for the checkout cart.  The registration login is at the upper right edge of their home page.

I took the heat gun to an extra shield I picked up in a package deal and made my own curved top last night.  Took it out for the first time today.  Greatly reduced buffeting at speeds up to three digits...well enough said about that.

They have recurve shields specifically for the Memphis fairing.....
