Title: Hey, Franco6
Post by: Super Santa on July 17, 2009, 06:09:28 PM
Are you still hoping for a Monday morning departure?

Keep me informed as to your plans.  I thought about meeting at the NE corner of Beechnut and Beltway feeder at the Shell station.  I think that is roughly in your area of town and it would be a good spot for me to get off Beltway and yet have easy access to get back on.  Burger King right there if early enough and want breakfast or coffee.

I think I want to go Beltway to 290, then to 6, then to I-35 to Fort Worth area.  In Fort Worth area picking up US-287 straight up to Amarillo to spend the night.

Following US-287 to Limon and picking up I-70 there and heading west.

Howdy,  I know this is not posted to me, but what the hey...

I make the 287 run quite a bit to the Amarillo area, just a few comments... based on how fast many of us ride our bikes... watch your speed in a few places a bit more close than usual.

Electra.. not seeing him in the median as much as I used to... hmm
Oklaunion area...(small township you drive by)
Chilicothe... local that usually sits on a side street..
Estelline, local that drives a late model charger or mustang...gets a new one every year or so, and almost always has someone pulled over for speeding when I go thru there. His brother may run the liquor store...I am sure there is a story behind how the person that told me that found out...

Most of the time, the rest of the towns you should just keep an eye out, you may see a hiway patrol at random anywhere else, but those 3 places have an increased chance.

Now, if you drive 15 below the speed limit like I do, you won't have problems...  :2funny: :2funny:

As for the rest of the route, I usually go to Clayton, NM , Raton, then up the Interstate.  It is more scenic in some areas, less in others, if nothing else, it is fast.

Have a blast !!

OK, meet up at the Shell station.  How about 6:00 departure time?  If time is OK with you I will probably try for 5:30 for a light bite to eat and maybe a cup of coffee.

Hopefully be in Amarillo by 5ish.

Call me tomorrow afternoon and let me know status on bike being back together.
