Title: Valkyrie belly pan and key mod Post by: mrtappan on September 30, 2014, 10:02:54 PM I was going to do a write up on the belly pan for some reason. But it's so simple it's pointless. I'm not real sure how I feel about 1/4" of pinched aluminum will hold that thing on at 100+ MPH but whatever. Not the best design in my opinion. I'd rather it have actual hole instead of slots to mount it.
Anyways the F6B pan fits the Valkyrie. I thought it looked a little stupid just sticking out the center of my dash. So one spare key, one wooden knob for a drawer, and one can of black spray paint later....... Title: Re: Valkyrie belly pan and key mod Post by: mrtappan on October 01, 2014, 06:59:03 AM Yes. Which is why I seriously considered buying a blue one and painting it black. I decided I would just buy a black one and paint the chrome instead. Or I may just order the black trim from an OEM parts website. Depends on how lazy I feel when it comes time to get to that part of this project.
Why you can only get the black trim on the blue bike I'll never know..... I've never been a fan of colorful bikes so all mine are always black. I'd trade my chrome parts for a set from a blue bike in a heartbeat to someone who likes chrome. Title: Re: Valkyrie belly pan and key mod Post by: six2go #152 on October 01, 2014, 07:09:32 AM I have that same belly pan on my F6B. I don't think it's going anywhere. This Winter I may take it off and have it powder coated black, although I don't really mind the silver showing along the bottom edge since my brake pedal and the valve cover trim is silver too.
Title: Re: Valkyrie belly pan and key mod Post by: mrtappan on October 01, 2014, 08:33:58 AM I'll probably just spray paint mine one day if I feel like it. You can barely see it even with the bike on the kickstand so it's no big deal.
I don't think I'd powder coat mine as the thought of it being thicker doesn't sit well with me. I'll know for sure this weekend if it'll stay on. In theory you don't have to take it off to service the bike so I'm just blue loctite-ing mine on there. |
