Title: Does the Valk have a slight edge over the F6B in HP? Post by: BIG--T on May 14, 2015, 08:29:46 PM I read the the Valkyrie has freer breathing intake and exhaust, but don't know if this is true.
Ok I'm 6'5 and a 36" reach. What we I need to ride comfortable 98% 2 up. I have a set of Hondaline bags that look like they might fit. I know Ultimate is not making seats. I also know, like my Valks I will need some highway pegs right away. I'm thinking about seriously pulling the trigger so thanks for your help because i know little. Post by: mrtappan on May 14, 2015, 10:28:07 PM I don't know if anyone had an F6B dynoed, but I had my Valk true dynoed at 500 miles on the odometer. I have the print out somewhere here but it was 107HP/112FtLBS at the rear wheel.
Title: Re: Does the Valk have a slight edge over the F6B in HP? Post by: Jess from VA on May 15, 2015, 04:36:25 AM I don't know, but both have more than enough power to get in all kinds of trouble (2-up or not). The lighter weight of the F6C should give it a bit of an edge in any event.
The hondaline bags can probably be made to fit the Goldwing Valk F6C, but with the rear fender swells, there will likely be a very wide gap between them and the fender. Of course, the F6B solves this problem entirely (and you get music). Title: Re: Does the Valk have a slight edge over the F6B in HP? But if you love the F6B stock and only need an Ultimate 2 up custom seat, I think you would have a pretty sweet ride. F6B just wasn't the look i was looking for when i compared it to the F6C Valkyrie. To each their own though! Title: Re: Does the Valk have a slight edge over the F6B in HP? The 1800 Goldwings have long been known to output 118 HP at the crank. Have a hard time finding actual dyno results. They are very much the same albeit the Valkyrie has a weight advantage.F6B stats: http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/04/22/harley-davidson-cvo-road-glide-vs-honda-gold-wing-f6b-deluxe-comparison-test/ (http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/04/22/harley-davidson-cvo-road-glide-vs-honda-gold-wing-f6b-deluxe-comparison-test/) Horsepower 103.66 @ 5580 rpm Torque 109.9 ft.-lb. @ 4160 rpm this site claims the 2014/2015 F6C Valkyrie to have the following: http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/honda/2014-honda-gold-wing-valkyrie-review-first-ride.html (http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/honda/2014-honda-gold-wing-valkyrie-review-first-ride.html) 118 hp and 125 ft.-lb. of torque the F6C Valkyrie stock with no accessories will definitely have a higher power to weight ratio - but after customizing with bags and 2 up seat, who knows how much it brings the two bikes to a closer matched power-to-weight ratio. not sure if anyone will agree with me but the F6B will have less customizability compared to the F6C Valkyrie ( IMHO )... I am a big guy also and found the Valkyrie to be cramped and the bars not where I wanted them. With my F6B I added some bar pullbacks for $100 and an Ultimate seat and it is every bit as comfortable as my Interstate was. As far as power goes, the Valkyrie most likely has a small edge mostly due to the power to weight ratio. I doubt it is that significant in the real world everyday riding situation. I would be WAY more concerned with comfort than that extra small bit of power. From a customizing standpoint, the majority of Gold Wing accessories will fit an F6B and there is no shortage of them! Thanks Dave, i came to the same conclusion also. At my age comfort is more important than speed anyway. Wait!!....did i actually say that? Lol ;D |
