Title: A very sad day..
Post by: FloridaValkRyder on April 10, 2016, 07:01:01 PM
Good Evening Valk folks,
Well, the deed is done and I got to watch my favorite motorcycle ever ride away for the last time. She was sold today to the son of a good friend of mine, also a Valkyrie owner. He was thrilled beyond belief and ever since we started talking about him buying her, he has become an avid Valkyrie Guy! Jim, his Dad, said he has become consumed with everything Valkyrie. That kinds of eases the pain of losing her a little I guess. He has intentions of joining the board apparently. I have sold many bikes over my lifetime but I have NEVER ever felt the loss as much as this, maybe because I know my riding days have come to an end. I'm glad she has gone to a good home with a voracious owner who will take real good care of her. So, i wanted to share that with you, my Valkyrie friends. I may see y'all down the road one day. Thank you all so much for everything you guys have done for me over the years, from planning rides to the heavy maintenance on the "Old Phat Gurl" (gave him your number Bill, hope that's OK). God Bless you, ride safe and goodbye for now.
Jeff

Jeff, please make sure you meet us at food destinations or at the parties.  Sorry you had to give up the hobby/sport we all love and share.

Well we never got a chance to meet Jeff but I've enjoyed your post. I think I understand how you feel  and will most likely feel the same when it's my time to follow suit. That's great that you know your bike will be well cared for for years to come. I really like your pic of your babe too! Now time for another chapter in your book. You'll always have your Valkyrie brother relationships and they will all like to hear from you.
Good luck on the next chapters!  :coolsmiley:

A sad day indeed, but we all will come to that point. I feel I am not too far away from that day also.  Please do not be a stranger, and meet up with us on some of the events and lunch destinations.  Nothing wrong with getting there on 4 wheels. As always I consider you a good friend.  And no problem giving my number out.

To FloridaValkRyder:

Sir,

Thank you. I don't know you, and I don't know the circumstances that have forced you to sell your beloved ride... and yet I still thank you. You put 2 wheels to the pavement, and you invested part of yourself into your bike and into the road. By doing so you invested into our lifestyle, a community, and into the very heart and soul that is riding. I'm glad you were able to pass along your prize possession to another passionate "youngling".
Your effort is not wasted. Your love is not forgotten. We who still ride will ride for those that can't. I've owned many motorcycles in my 35  years of life, but I've never felt the same connection that I do now with my new style Valkyrie. Because of this forum, I hope to one day own the older variant of the legend that started this special beast of a motorcycle.

Where ever you end up, where ever you go, know that kindred spirits like yourself are taking up the mantle. We won't drop it anytime soon.

Thank you for the love you put towards the road. May it carry on with your ride, where ever she goes.

Glad it got to go to someone that will appreciate it.  Iris still misses hers at times but she is also glad the Lesa is taking good care of it and enjoying it.  I miss the Rocket III a little but not like I would the Valkyrie.  I haven't been riding it a lot either but just been busy with other interests.  We hope to get out this summer and take it with us in the 5th wheel to a new destination for some riding in a new area.  Lots to discover yet in the good old USA.

Jeff

I did not get to share a whole lot riding time with you but the few times we did I truly enjoyed your company. Last year's NC trip was a success and we will always remember that you made it happen. Thank you  :cooldude:
I know it must have been a hard day but remember that you have made a lot of friends here and that we hope to see you at some of the gatherings.
Now you can meet us in the HOT summer days and then jump in your nice comfortable air conditioning ride back home while we ride back on the 90 degree days.

Hello Jeff,

Memories are made up of all kind of things. You are in several of my best ones. Thanks for being you. Do not become a stranger. It's just as easy to get to the bakery by car. I'll send you a PM with my phone info. You are a good man, and will remain one whether on two wheels or four.

Best, Pete

Now.....what is going to replace it? Seems like I heard something sporty with either 3 or 4 wheels?
As others have said. Don't be a stranger.....it wasn't the bike that we enjoyed as much as the friendship. The bikes just get us together once in a while.

You will always be missed Jeff. Everyone here loves you and respects you. Don't be a stranger and come in four or 3 wheels and smoke a cigar with us and share some lies at these gatherings.

Jeff it's been quite a while since I've been on the site and just looked at your post. You've talked about this day for a while but I'm sure it was tough seeing her leave. As Pappy asked, what will you be replacing her with?
I still hope to see you around, take care.

You folks are such a fine, caring, supportive group. Thanks for the kind words. This really has been a journey I did not want to take but life calls the shots for us. I'll be popping in on some of the events when my work schedule allows. As far as a replacement Toy, I'm still deciding. I really thought the Slingshot might be in my future, even took a test drive but it was a bit uncomfortable and louder then I thought it would be. Getting in and out of it was not pleasant either. So, I'm looking at some sporty 2 seaters or a nicely done Jeep is still possible. We shall see. I hope to see you soon. God bless all of you and please ride safe.
