Title: kickstand...
Post by: hubcapsc on September 23, 2009, 06:03:20 PM

Does your kickstand really fit up into this groove? Nothing looks bent on my kickstand mount...

Title: If you have the peg relocator/lower kit on you have to move the tab >>>

Maybe that's it. Otherwise someone caught  or stood on the tab and bent it.. Mine misses the cutout but it's right at the edge. And just clears the stock peg.....

It's bent. Sorry

It's a Honda, you actually think they would put out junk like that?

Take a big mallet and bang the small arm back

Mike.....it needs a Viagra....(or a rubber mallet).

Those of us that run floorboards also have occasion to bend it out a little.

Before you go bending, check to see if you bottomed out the frame on a speed bump or something else. It could be that the cross brace is bent. If you need to bend the toe arm, put a pipe over it and bend slowly.

So I guess, if everything was perfect, the kickstand would pretty much fit into the groove in the pipe...

I can't tell what is bent by looking, but I've seen pictures of tortured cross members, mine's not
that way... I guess the "toe arm" is part of the bolted on bracket?... maybe I could get a new one,
or a Pinwall one, and be good to go?

I believe what he called the "toe arm" is the little piece you were asking about fitting into the slot.  It definitely looks bent to me.

Oh... so, the "toe arm" is the thing I took a picture of in the first place, the part of your kickstand
that you catch with your "toe"... whoda thunk it?  :-[  :uglystupid2: I didn't mean to be dense
with the rest of you, I just didn't realize that everyone else was talking about just the little
arm being bent...

Anywho, what with wizard's mishap, we should all make sure our kickstands are safe...

I agree, it looks bent to me too.  And scraped in either a really aggressive turn or a fall-over event.  The bend looks like it starts all the way at the base of the toe arm.

Take a piece of pipe, slide it all the way down to the kickstand itself, and slowly and gently bend it forward until it fits in the exhaust "groove" again.

Just checked mine and it lines up in the groove. Should be able to bend it if careful.

Thanks y'all... when I got my tired bike, the tins were all good, but there were scrapes on both
crash bars, and the headers... and the bracket that holds on the radiator was tweeked a little...
I bet the kickstand was already bent too, I just don't look at it while it is up much...

What, I swept first...?

I stretched out my $29 Harbor Freight wheel chock out with the pickup truck jack and
bolted it to a piece of (half inch?) steel that weighs about 400 tons... couldn't bolt it to
the "floor"... the wheel chock is responsible for me noticing what the kickstand looks like
folded up...

If you run the Cobra front floorboards with the Rattlebars peg-lowering kit, you'll need to bend the sidestand access (as shown) to clear the edge of the board.  Terry

If you're gonna leave those bags and bags rails just layin' around, I'll be more than happy to give them a good home.   ;)

Well I read this thread a few days back......Today getting ready to head out on Emily's Parade....  A little voice says "check it out"  I look down...  :o .....WTF!  >:( ....I 've been riding around with this thing WAY out of alignment!  About two minutes with a length of copper pipe and now it tucks like it is supposed to.

I have some lowered pegs so it wants to share space with the foot peg when it is bearing weight.  That I really do not care about.

It has likely been out since I bought this in the spring of 08.  :uglystupid2:  Unfrigginbelievable!

Thanks to the group for bringing it up!!!  Like Mike, I never looked at it when it was up!......until today.
Now I'm back in harmony with the universe. :coolsmiley:

I suppose there are worse things, but going thru life with a bent kickstand could be......uncomfortable.
