Title: Ignition Switch Relocation Project - Completed!
Post by: Glaserbeam on January 23, 2018, 12:32:38 PM
I don't like having the ignition switch under the tank, "cruiser" style.  I prefer it somewhere near the instruments.  Couldn't find any available relocation kits, so I made one.  Two thin sheets of aluminum glued together and bent to form the panel (the bottom flap sits flat on the upper triple tree), used 0000 steel wool to created the brushed look, cut/drilled holes to accept the switch mounting posts and cover retaining screw plus three "windows" so I could see the neutral/signal/hi-beam lights from my seated position (doesn't look accurate based on where I held the camera to take the photo, but the lights ARE centered within the windows). Simple steel bracket bolted to the panel and bent/drilled to fit on the speedo/tach mounting bolts.  Made an extension for the wiring harness, routed under the tank.

I'm guessing that the bracket provides shade that makes your indicator lights more visible, as an added bonus.

Looks like good work, hard work. I’m not understanding the rectangular hole just under the switch body. If that’s where you prefer the ignition switch then a fine result.

The hole under the switch body is for the wires. Maybe could've been a bit smaller.
