...after doing the carb rebuild. I want to thank you all for your help and guidence but I dont think I am done just yet. I just filled the carbs using a tygon hose and funnel, then cranked her up. She started after two attempts. She sounds strong and seems to run well between 1200 and 3000 RPMs where the problem was before.
However, she has some popping and a back fire on accel through the carbs from time to time. Then I realized #6 cylinder was still open to atmosphere (vacuum leak). Even at that she sounds good and strong. If I had brakes and had installed the tank, I would have taken her around the block.

I set all of the pilots  at 2.5 turns I think...I wrote it down somewhere...and I did a "pre sync" with the shim material that Red Eye sent. After I get it all back together where I can ride her, I'll hook up my vacuum gauge and do an honest carb sync...but so far, initial indications are good. I'll sleep well tonight!! cooldude THanks again guys...more to follow......
