If you're a sophisticated GPS user, you will find it "lacking" like the reviewer did. Sounds like you should keep using your Garmin Zumo...

Yeah, that’s disappointing for sure but if you have an iPhone, you can just use CarPlay with apple maps on the screen.
If they would have been able to get Android to sign up, they wouldn’t have even needed an on board Nav, could just use the one on your phone like with the apples.

Cell phones is where it is at. Or, do what I do and just carry an old school paper map along. gosh, I am so set in the 80s still? ??? for 30K though, you'd expect this wing to do it all correctly first time around. I see more and more 2018 vehicles equipped in say mid-level trims with android and apple interfaces. Been looking at a few 2018s lately and seems to be the going trend which makes sense for most. I do not like though all that lane departure assist, sensory overload BEEPING at me all the time. I got a rental vehicle with all those gizmos and was trying to let the lane departure assist try driving the vehicle for me that when it hit the lines on either side of road it would correct my steering. It did not do a very good job and the dash told me in bright RED letters to pull over and take a rest. I do like though and would use it being adaptive cruise control mostly on longer trips to keep a safe following distance but even that failed on me when a sudden STOP of the car in front of me the car braked HARD but then the rental car could not compensate for the HARD braking of car in front of me so the car stopped braking and beeped at me with RED light to BRAKE. I can see accidents happening right and left for those who think electronics will be safer in cars.

If your buying the bike for the GPS, then I would agree. It works, but Garmin makes a better product. I bought the new Goldwing for the bike itself and I really like. Coming off the Valkyrie Interstate, I gain heated grips and seat, the electrically adjusted windshield, ABS, traction control, and blue tooth connectivity, and cruise control. The bike is very smooth, handles and rides great. Yes there are some issues. The jury is still out on the seat, but then I changed the Valkyrie seat. Wind / weather protection is better on the Valk but it had Baker Air Wings. I will probably add wind wings and a wider windshield to the Wing. Did I give up storage? Well yes, the Valkyrie has 120 litters of storage, the new Wing only 110. The trunk rack is smaller too. We all made changes to our Valks to suit our needs, and will do so with the new Wing. Maybe I will add a $100 Garmin to it. Hopefully Honda will fix and provide updates for the 2018 Goldwing.

I guess some people are pretty dependent on technology. I wouldn’t have patience to name waypoints and such to begin with.

I'm only good at looking at maps before the trip. If I get a bit lost on the ride, I just wing it. I'm a guy, I'm never lost (and only rarely ever ask for directions) I'm just a little confused on where I am. Based on the sun, this is the right general direction. If I keep going this way long enough, I'll find out where I am later. On the other hand, should I suddenly go to reserve with the 35mi window, .... OMG, I'm f'in lost!

My use of a GPS is "this is where I started, and this is where I'm going", along with some pretrip planning to make sure the route the GPS is taking is OK. I don't have the patience to learn to use waypoints like that, but I have been known to use many different destinations to accomplish the same thing.

For a bike that costs 30K, it is a bit disappointing... that being said, it seems an easy fix in a sofware update.

Yeah, assuming it has the basics regarding internal memory & processing capability, all may not be lost. Hard to say what the aftermarket would be willing to invest, since they need so sell a higher volume than what GW would provide, to make the R&D and tooling pay off compared to the opportunity cost of doing a new generic standalone car one. Honda, on the other hand, would have the incentive and working relationship with the current provider to make improvements if they believe it's hurting bike sales as is.

I'm never lost. I'm always directly above the center of the earth. Well - we are ALL on the surface of the earth (unless we're in a plane). Now - if you want to be more specific...
