2000 Interstate -- Went for first ride of the year and while the speedo works fine the odometer is registering less than the actual mileage as is the trip meters.. What parts would I be looking for?

So is the speedometer reading high or the odometer reading low and how do you know? Measured mile on highway or GPS or ? Speedo and odometer use the same information from the little box on the left side of your front wheel. Sounds like the display is toast or the little box isn't sending the right signal. I replaced my little box when my speedo was intermittent and it solved the problem. Little box will be cheaper than a display unit if you are throwing parts at it to fix.

Let us know what fixes it    cooldude

The speedo is pretty much right on as per gps and the odo and trip are registering a little more than half of the actual mileage

Is it measuring kilometers instead of miles ?

If that's the problem, it would be indicating miles when he thinks it's kilometres (approximately 0.6 miles per kilometre).
Can the Interstate odometer be switched between displaying miles and kilometres?

I don't think so. I just assumed him being in Canada, it might be a Canadian model displaying kilos. It seems wierd that the speedo would be operating properly, but the odometer off.

Ride it forever then sell as a low mileage Interstate    Grin Grin

There is a lot of stuff in the speed sensor on the wheel. It may feed a signal for speedometer and odometer separate. I would change that out first. I had an electronics whiz look at my speed sensor and no user serviceable parts. I think I paid $65 Canadian

Crappy picture but you get the idea
