Looks like it is Garmin disaster time again
A few weeks back, everything worked fine when I connected my Zumo 590 to my PC and Express
Nothing has changed since, as far as I am concerned. Now, my Zumo falls back into the operating mode after a few seconds in connect mode. Not recognized by PC, Express and Basecamp.
Apparently, more people have had this problem since Garmin has put an official message on their website how to fix this.
I followed all the recommendations to no avail, updated my Windows 10, tried different USB ports, different cables, different PC's, changed to mass storage mode, reset my Zumo, bought and charged a new battery...Zumo still does not connect
Does this look familiar to anyone?

One workaround depending on what you're doing:  If you are trying to write to, or read from an SD card, it's always faster to remove it and put it in a card reader/writer. I have several different ones, a favorite is one by Iogear. see https://www.ebay.com/itm/IOGEAR-GFR281W6-56-in-1-Flash-USB-2-0-Card-Reader-Writer/301243534049?hash=item4623838ae1:g:ul8AAOSwoudW9kqa
(BTW the card can be MUCH bigger than resident memory, which NA maps have exceeded in size a lot.  I use 32GB cards, and load several of them with different MP3's - limited to 2000 per card in this Zumo.)  This would apply to updating maps, MP3 files, waypoint files etc. I have not tried that for uploading routes but I suspect it should work if they can reside on the SD card rather than resident memory.  Uploading routes - Garmin SNAFU'd when they replaced Mapsource with Basecamp. I went to myrouteapp.com but it's not as good as mapsource was.

I got with Garmin tech support last year and they did a work around so I could still use Mapsource with my new zumo. Glad they did, I hate basecamp.

Can you share what you learned?  Some time ago I got similar help from Garmin but it was limited to helping with the latest map release.  I was going to need their help again with each new release so it wasn't very helpful.  BTW they recently released 2019.10.  It's typically 3-4 of them per year.
