Although I have not seen any threads on problems arising from various hoses on the Valk, I have been wondering if this is something that should be looked at.  With our bikes in the 20 year age range, should we be changing any hoses as part of routine maintenance?  I am riding to Inzane this year, and would hate to get stranded because I failed to replace "X" hose.

All the hoses hooked to your carburetors, the vacuum ones and the drain ones,
can become rotted and cracked.

The vacuum ones can make a difference in how your bike runs.

The O-rings under the intake runners need to be changed when you
start seeing "tobacco" stains around them. Getting your hand back
in there to change out the carb drain and vacuum hoses sure is
easier when you've got one (or some) of the intake runners off  cooldude

The bigger gas lines on my 97 are probably original. They still seem good
when I take the tank off. I guess they're made more robustly, since a
failure similar to my rotted vacuum lines would probably result in
a ball of flame...

When I did the desmog 3-? years ago I found new fuel lines for my I/S available from Honda. On the I/S there are 2 different lengths. The new replacement lines were both long. You have to cut one-shorten it. Measure CAREFULLY however many times it takes and cut once! If yer already in there-desmog it. I pulled the tank and the air box. Word of caution here-run your fuel tank down a good ways. Gasoline is what? 7 or 8 pounds a gallon. RIDE SAFE.

I desmogged and installed new fuel and vacuum lines.  Not seeing any stains around the intakes yet, and I have a set of O rings when I do.  I am more worried about coolant lines.  It could be there aren't any except for the main radiator hoses.  Just looked at the fiche I see two lines that run from the overflow tank, one is a drain line.  I should have looked before posting and would have seen, there just aren't many hoses, which is why I haven't read about them on this here forum.
