Some of the little brass insert nuts will probably spin on you. I just used a screwdriver wedged in there to apply pressure as I unscrewed them. You will likely have to superglue them back in.

Meat was speaking of taking the side panels off, the ones with the speakers.  One must take them off first.  Once they are off no brainer.

Took longer to take off the panels than the rest of the procedure due to the brass inserts spinning when I replaced my windshield...

Here's a nice video on IS shield swap: (their polycarb shields are spendy, but good) (I used Clearview, 5 inches wider than stock, and chose my own height for me)

https://f4customs.com/index.php?route=information/videos&information_id=18

If any of the four shield mount anchors in the fairing turn, don't just keep turning them and auger out the holes in the plastic.  Just yank them straight out, clean the threads and put them back (or replace with new) with some epoxy or JB weld.  Obviously you must not get glue in the anchor threads.  Then antisieze the shield screws.

The OE shield is 15.5" with only a half inch below the chrome trim bezel.

Ordering four of these is a good idea (insurance) before you start the replacement.

I just replaced mine with Clearview. Got the stock size. Great customer service and the shield is crystal clear.

I replaced mine with an F4 model a while back and it had a defect in the line of sight (along with unfinished edges), so they replaced it, with another one with a defect in the line of sight.   tickedoff

For all the extra expense for polycarbinate, those shields should be perfect.

My Cleaviews (Lucite/plastic) were perfect.  They may not stand up to a 6 foot 2 by 4 being shot at them out of a machine like poly, but they are like 5mm thick, while poly (like OE) is maybe half the thickness (or 2mm?).  And the plastic can have nicks polished out; not poly with the coating.

I replaced my IS windshield with a Clearview OEM sized replacement and spent the extra on the vent. I'm in South Texas and I welcome any extra air moving through my mesh jacket in the heat. I see you are in Arizona, so you have even more heat that I do here. You can angle it from straight at you to closed upwards. It was 69 dollars more, but totally worth it for more air movement.

I had almost every one of my brass inserts spin on me. I also carefully used a screwdriver to pop them out and epoxied them back in place. After giving her a day to cure, I then used Anti-Seize on the bolt threads and put her back together. Some of the brass inserts were stuck to the bolts pretty badly and I had to use channel locks to get them off. The bolts were oxidized. Make sure to use Anti-Seize of some sort on the reassembly.
