Does anyone know if Honda has the HRC software available for the 1800?  I can find it for the single cylinders as well as the CBR1000.  But I haven't found the version the works on the 1800.  Anyone?

Had never heard of this kind of thing before so I started to look around and found the same thing as you. I would doubt with O2 sensors and the complexity of the computer programs and of course EPA they would allow this to be done. I have seen the stipulation in most cases for off road only, so I doubt it would be available.

I also doubt you would get that much more either.

I had just read this month in one of my regular cycle mags that, when reviewing a long-term 2017 BMW (can't remember the model, but a larger bike), mentioned that BMW had already "released four computer program updates" since the bike had been produced. I've noticed this in other articles about other bikes, as well. My bike ('14 Valk) doesn't have ABS, various traction settings and programs, connected (f/r) brakes, etc., just like most of the rest of you. So maybe the BMW had all those things and more and the mfg. had to "improve" things on the fly after the bike was sold to the public? Who pays for these updates, should you decide to opt in? How do these updates affect warranties, if at all? Are the updates worth it? Does Honda do updates like that on other bikes? Older bikes? I have questions, Honda!!   ???

Can I assume that the rest of you have never been sent an urgent message from Honda telling you to be sure to get your newest, best-est update to bring your bike up to snuff? I'm sure some of you will have a quick answer(s) to the above. Thanks, per always.   Cool

A note about the BMW updates fyi

These updates are more than likely NOT performance updates. While BMW does have performance updates they also have problems/changes with the software. They design something and may have a glitch and either update the software or sometimes the whole module. There may be a glitch in the OS of the bike they need to update it to the latest update, if its anything like their cars. Most auto updates cost anywhere from 400 to 800 and if under warranty and the update covers the warranty repair they will do it free otherwise you pay.

Many cars on the road today not only BMW have software updates available to them. Kind of like driving your computer around only you dont get updates free. When BMW first came out there was a tremendous problem with the software and would take anywhere from 1 to 20 hours to reprogram the entire car. This problem is not only BMW but most higher end cars and trucks but some MFGs have more problems than others in this area.

Hmm.  Questions asked and answered.  Thanks!
