1998 Standard dressed as a Tour Model with OEM hard bags.
Adding a Boss Audio MC500 Sound system to my ride.
What is the easiest way to install?
Is there a Wire I can run to too have it turn key or do I need to run hot and power system down all the time?
What installation tricks are there?
I am certainly a wiring challenged individual and don’t want to cause any issues.
Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

I installed the Cycle Tune Kit on my standard and ran power to a toggle switch so I can have tunes without the key on.

I also put mine on a separate switch so I can listen anytime. I also put a usb charger for phone on the same switch. ( it has an indicator light on it so I don’t leave it on)

I have thought to using a switch for that purpose.
Just being cautious about the wiring anything up.
Mechanics I can handle, wiring is not my strong point.
I have and have seen a lot of friends wiring and they resemble a rats nest.

It doesnt get any simpler than to wire a pc-8 it even comes with pictures. Two cables to the battery then to the fuse block then inset hot wire and ground wires and you are done. It gives you multiple fuses to wire in more things. Dont be askeered.

I used a pc-8. Added a selector sw so I can run it with engine off. If I do that I plug in a 6 amp charger if it's going to run awhile. Set up the audio so it can play from the phone (Pandora etc), gps mp3's, or satellite. Has bluetooth, a preamp mixer with crossover, 300w amp. Comes in handy at group rides, at the motel when we're having drinks.

Got to get ready for work now. I'm sorry, I couldn't find the pic of it on here. If my memory serves me correctly. It is 2 empty female bullet plugs inside a clear (yellowed by age) boot. It is up in the top right section under the right panel. When you locate the boot with the 2 wires in it, measure voltage. There will be nothing with the key off and 12 volts with it on. I hope this helps. Maybe someone better at searching can find the pic. |

What wires did you connect to for use of ignition? I Have looked and don't see an obvious set of female connections. |

on the right (key) side behind the side cover you will find the ignition wire that directly connects to its dedicated fuse. apologies as I type this response I don't remember the color. i simply spliced into it. the amp fit perfectly under my seat. to do things right i recommend removing the items in the way and lifting the tank s few inches. took me about 3 hrs all in...

I have added a relay for some external stuff (audio, gps, radar detector) and its powered from a connector on the right side of the bike under the cover. Here is a link to the picture.
