Actually, I learned a long time ago (40 years) about servicing my own bikes after I saw a tech trying to take my front axle out without releasing the pinch bolts. I bought a service manual! For $10/month it's cheap piece of mind if something big happens to the engine or transmission. California may be different in regards to Extended Warranty rules. If you're so inclined it's worth a shot.
Thanks for sharing that I thought I was the only one.
I brought my bike to the dealer near by and I even knew the service manager. It was for installing a spring kit in the front forks and the warranty neutral safety switch for the light. Well got the bike back and the aluminum polished fork caps with the nut on top was seriously crushed. Someone didn't loosen the pinch bolts and took vise grips to the top cap nuts and destroyed them. They didn't even have the balls to say something but waited till I noticed it and got me 2 new caps.
I said maybe a bad day till my friend bought a VTX 1800 from them and they fouled up the wiring to the stop light on the bags and tucked about 7 feet of extra wire under the fender. Along with being a quart low on oil for a new bike really did the trick.
reminds me of when I took my then new 2012 tundra in for a dealer paid oil change and got my entire drivers door repainted on their dime was keyed on their lot about 1 foot thru the paint below drivers door handle.

I now look over my vehicles ASAP when get anything done at ANY dealer.
Mistakes happen, but to NOT admit fault really irks me.
