My mouse died

We've has a mouse raiding the top shelf of our pantry where we store the dog food.
I've tried several kinds of traps with cheese or peanut butter.
Today, I cleaned the top shelf, placed a single sack of the mouses favorite dog treats in the middle, surrounded it with all 12 of the mouse traps including 3 new ones I got today.
I hadn't read the instructions before placing the new traps.
I finally read the instructions and went down to bait them with peanut butter and I noticed one was not set.
When I opened it to bait it, it had a dead mouse  
I dumped the mouse in the trash and put the trap back the way it was.
I've decided it's placement that counts

if you want a sure fire way of catching mice in traps..don't use peanut butter or cheese..get yourself a can of betty crocker cake icing. works everytime. we had a mouse quite a few years ago that would clean the traps without setting them off. sucker must of graduaded top in his class. my grandfather told me about the cake icing..after putting that on..within 10 minutes that sucker was assuming room temperature.

The Betty Crocker Cake icing won't work. It would be gone long before I can get to the traps.

i just used plain vanilla. but i don't think it really matters what flavor..mice love it just as much as we do.

do you skin the mouse befor ya put the frsting on them? im still hungery

The way to get those silver tounged devils is string.

Run a peice of string through the bait part of a standard Victor type snap trap, then p-butter it. After they lick the peanut butter off, they go for the string. Works every time.
