I just got my new National Cycle light bar. If I wire it per the instructions it will come on whenever I am using the high beams. For $45 + shipping I can buy a handle bar mounted off /on switch. My Cobra light bar has the switch right on the bar and I had it in the on position 99% of the time. I am a tight old bastard and don’t really want to buy it if I don’t have to . I like to run the driving lights all the time. Is that a bad thing? Is it possible to easily wire it that way and if so how? Thanks .

You can wire the lights using the diagrams in this post.  They will be on all the time (except when cranking the starter, when you don't want them on.)

Harv Pilot makes a kit with switch, wiring and relay that I have used for years that works really well Part # PL-harn3
