I was preparing to mow the lawn and get needed work around here started....
After a light breakfast, Laurel says; "Let's go for a ride and have lunch in Lubec".
Hell yeah, the thoughts of mowing the lawn vanish instantly !!!!
The route we take is totally up to me..... Laurel simply wants to ride, feel and smell the fresh air, and enjoy some sunshine...

Off we go, mostly following Rt 1 nortth with an exception or two in order to grab a few hills and twisty roads. Arriving at a well secluded little restaurant, which used to be a sardine factory....the back deck is over the water....with the only sounds coming from the ocean.  PERFECT !!!

I had grilled haddock over a romaine salad, and Laurel had a beer battered haddock over a romaine salad.   Haddock was absolutely pure white and very moist....damn that was good.

After eating we follow the 'main road' from Lubec back to Rt 1...where instead of turning left (west) I turn right (north) and head for Calais....more really nice riding on basically undeveloped territories.
We pull into an Irving in Calais to grab an iced tea, and I need to decide on our direction from there. Continuing on Rt 1 north will take us to Houlton, and eventually Fort Kent....end of Rt 1 in Maine !!!
Or I can turn left and get on Rt 9 which will take us back to Bangor / Brewer.
Figuring I best 'top off the tank' just in case I make the foolish decision to head towards Fort Kent...Leaving the fuel pump and pulling back on to Rt 1, I have less than 100 yds to make my decision....

With a flick of the directional button, it's Rt 9 west towards Bangor / Brewer. ( neither of us had a change of clothes or tooth brush...which didn't matter to me )  We did not have any medications with us...and that is a big deal for both of us !!!  G'damn this getting old crap and needing medicines to keep the body functioning properly...Next time remember to secretly pack a couple days worth of medicines.
Rt 9 is a 100 mile 'trucker route'...wide wide roads, passing lanes on every hill, long long sweepers...and one can easily roll 80 mph and not realize it.  Yep, even these ol' Harley's can reach and maintain 80, as long as there are plenty of downgrades !!!

Back home 3 hours after leaving the fuel stop in Calais, with a face full of smiles, Laurel hops off the bike and gives me a kiss, telling me she had a wonderful ride and very much enjoyed herself.  I had the biggest crap-eating smile all night !!!

45 miles to have lunch, 205 miles to find our way home....gone for 9 hours, simply enjoying life once again !!!

Dude, awesome. Can't tell you how many times Dave and I did the "Airline Drive". 80 mph, the bikes making they own harmony, and not a thought in my head. Best route in the world.
Ride on brother, ride every chance.

Jowls were flapping in the wind,  like a hound dog with his head out the window.
Yeah, it was that good !!!

This is exactly what the doctor recommended Karen, a mind clearing ride.

100 miles from Brewer to Calais, on an open road built for the truckers
traveling Canada to U.S. and vise versa.........It is such a great piece
of road to roll on......Stopping at the million dollar turn-out to see
Kah Tah Din Mountain if the sky is clear.........boo tee full to say the least.
Yep, a Valk purring and a H-D loping side by side do have a special harmonic tune...
