Lately I have been seeing more bikes with a specific look and I like to look at them but do not want one or if I gravitate to it I feel they are onto something but they are over done. I personally prefer the stock size rims over the new big wheels with zillions of spokes and these bikes tend to have wide low beach bars lots of chrome solo seats and fish tail exhaust.  Is there a name for this category? Maybe Lowrider? Also what is the difference in a rat bike and bobber? I am hoping to have a clearly defined class.

Rat Bike - any ugly, rusty, paint mismatch, abused looking of any type.

Bobber - usually a bike with bobbed or missing fenders and other standard items removed to give a minimalist look.

As for the picture - reminds me of some of the customization that went on in the 1940 thru 1970's on Indians and Harleys  - Old style customs that used ideas from older vintage bikes.

That's not a bad looking bike, but I do see some problems.  Fenders that low in back  (front and rear) will drag and maybe crack leaving aprons (at 15mph, as I do), and maybe in hard leans.  I would probably drag those low pipes too.  I don't ever want wire wheels again either.  The seat has no cushion, and is so low your hips will be hitting the seat basket (unless you weigh 125 or so).  The white walls look cool but have to be kept up with the scrubbing or they get unrecoverably shitty.  The beach bars are too wide, and at full lock will be close to your legs.  Oh yeah, and it has a Harley Dangerous engine.   Grin

But I like looking at it too.  cooldude

Besides awesome looking, old skool ,would be the term I would use.

Jerry I think you have a niche for making these bikes and could translate into some bucks for you.

I believe that is a "Jerry Lee Lewis" or a "Roy Orbison".

Here is another one and this one is more inline with “not over done” and yes the other one was lowered too much.  I believe the first one to be Yameeee as well. Wild Star is Euro version of Road Star 1600.

Jerry you're right, the first one is a Star Strato, I think.  Worked hard to make it look HD.  Still a twin.

My black interstate has the same simple old BMW-ish pin striping as the Road Star.

I believe they are both Road Stars. The top one has dragger fenders and are aptly named, with Tru Dual exhaust. Looks like a Corbin seat for that bike. Not a big fan of white walls, but to each his own. Spokes are a pain in the ass if not cleaned regularly. I used to use a bottle brush just for that reason, works well, but you have to stay on them.

Lots a bling on both bikes. The bottom one has a hyper charger that is purely for looks. It also looks like those are long shots on the bottom bike? Road Stars aren't hard to make sound good with decent exhaust.

I know this is a v-twin haters club   Evil  but those Road Stars are comfy and run well.  Road Stars set low and have a nice center of gravity. They have been reasonably priced.  They are especially nice if you are 6 ft or over., which I am. I owned one for a long time.

I don't know if there's a name for that look (photo in first post), but if I were to coin the term, I would call it a glider.

I agree, both Road Stars.  I sat on one this past winter and it felt comfy and roomy and easy to ride, and I am 6 ft.
Kind of reminded me of the seating position of another Marysville bike I had for too short of time, that being a Honda Shadow Ace Tourer that also had the same Valkyrie bags.  I also like v-twins and would have no problem having one of these.

The low rider one is not my taste as well however the black Wild star looks good.  I switch from the Valks  to the Drifters and I enjoy the Drifters however no doubt, they are not a Valkyrie. Honda broke the mold plain and simple with the 1500, but I do enjoy V twinkies, just something different.
