No, not the book or movie, my actual left foot.
On May 22nd I was working just simply climbing into my work when I felt a "pop" in my left foot. After finishing the day it still was uncomfortable so I went to local urgent care. After X-rays showed no damage I was referred to an orthopedic specialist. After an MRI, she said it looked like a tibialis anterior tendon rupture. (English translation, then tendon/muscle that runs down your shin to your foot is no longer attached at the foot) This is where the plot thickens. She has 23 years experience in specific foot/ankle injuries and has never seen this. I was recommended to a sports orthopedic specialist at Mass General Hospital. He also has 24+ years working with the Bruins and Celtics. He has seen this once before and actual did the surgery successfully. He was concerned with my weight, health status so after more testing I have been cleared for surgery on Monday. Recovery is 6-10 weeks no weight bearing. 10-16 weeks gradual increase in walking. At this time may return to light duty at work. Rehab and total recovery up to 6 months. It is the opposite side of an Achilles tendon tear, with same time frame for recovery.
So, let me give you the short and sweet version. Left foot no up flex, think no upshifting. Six months recovery, think December. 1+1= riding is done this year. Stick a fork in Wally, he's done.
