No, not the book or movie, my actual left foot.
On May 22nd I was working just simply climbing into my work when I felt a "pop" in my left foot. After finishing the day it still was uncomfortable so I went to local urgent care. After X-rays showed no damage I was referred to an orthopedic specialist. After an MRI, she said it looked like a tibialis anterior tendon rupture. (English translation, then tendon/muscle that runs down your shin to your foot is no longer attached at the foot) This is where the plot thickens. She has 23 years experience in specific foot/ankle injuries and has never seen this. I was recommended to a sports orthopedic specialist at Mass General Hospital. He also has 24+ years working with the Bruins and Celtics. He has seen this once before and actual did the surgery successfully. He was concerned with my weight, health status so after more testing I have been cleared for surgery on Monday. Recovery is 6-10 weeks no weight bearing. 10-16 weeks gradual increase in walking. At this time may return to light duty at work. Rehab and total recovery up to 6 months.  It is the opposite side of an Achilles tendon tear, with same time frame for recovery.
So, let me give you the short and sweet version. Left foot no up flex, think no upshifting. Six months recovery, think December.  1+1= riding is done this year. Stick a fork in Wally, he's done.

Damn that sux. We wait so long for our short riding season, then BAM it's over.
No upshifting, how about a kick shift?
Heal quick.

Sorry to hear of the rip / tear / shred/  yank /  of the opposite side of your achilles Paul.
On a better side, it sounds like you are in the hands of a well respected and trained
professional who knows what has to be done.
Enjoy the hand dealt and don't look back on what happened....find something else
to fill your time and mind, concentrate on rehab and bust ass while doing it !!!
Come back stronger than than ever.....

Very sorry to read this, Paul, I'd recommend a scooter, but I think you just went way past the point where that would work. You would absolutely look fabulous on one, (as do I) but nah... please let me know if there's anything I can do (besides bust 'em). Hoping the healing goes well, and you are back riding ASAP!  Kiss

Thanks everyone. Yeah this sucks. Kathy and I were really looking forward to having a great riding summer.
I'll keep you all posted on surgery and rehab.
