Any thoughts on when and where for the Hill Country Ride this year?  We're probably behind on making reservations for many locations.

Actually, if we started right now, we'd be way ahead of our efforts the last several years.  I can't speak for anyone else, but I plan to be there the weekend of the Harvest Classic, 19 & 20 October.

Not trying to force my plan on anyone else - just sharing info in case you're interested.

I just called the Peachtree Inn & Suites and they have a number of rooms with different configurations available the weekend of the Harvest Classic.  I just booked the last double queen for myself and some yet to be identified roomie for Friday 19 and Saturday 20 October.

As of 20 June, they have King rooms, Deluxe King rooms (king + sleeper sofa), Suites (1-bedroom apt + sleeper sofa), and the Blue House across the street that has 4 rooms, fenced back yard, bbq grill, pool, and sleeps 19.

Reserve with a card, but if you pay in cash, they offer a discount.  Mention VRCC or Valkyrie and they'll try to keep us close together.

Sorry I missed this earlier.  I've been out of touch with a recent knee surgery.  I'll call up to the PeachTree and set up a block for us.  I'll let ya'll know when that's completed.
Thanks for the work, Disco.

Well, it looks like it's not in the cards for Vita and myself this time around Undecided

Just got off of the phone with the Peach Tree Inn, and they only have 1 suite available at $179 per night.... That's a little too rich for my blood!

There are other places in Fredericksburg to stay.  Peach Tree Inn is just ground zero.

Unfortunately, October is a very busy month for Fredericksburg with a lot going on. We looked into several places, but couldn't find much of anything available for less than $130 (which means about $150 or more after all of the taxes added) per night. With the rooms costing that much, it drives the cost of the weekend upwards between $400 and $500 with everything added.....

Hey all,
Mike decided not to take the room.  If someone else wants it, let me know.  I'll wait a week or so to cancel.  It's a king room; Fri and Sat night; $129/night; they said no tax if you pay cash on arrival.

How many do we have on this ride?  How many want to go but can't get rooms?  Maybe we need to rethink this.

Sorry to say, I cancelled my reservation as that weekend is now too busy with work due to all the rained out events rescheduling.  No ride for me this year.

I wait all summer for the heat to pass. Now that it has, it has rained heavily here the last three weekends. If it is going rain down there next weekend, I'll pass.

If anyone is still planning on riding out this way for Friday - Sunday, please be aware of flooding in the area.  The Hill Country is having some major flooding right now -- rivers, creeks, lakes, etc.  There's at least one bridge near Llano that has washed out and plenty of road closers, evacuations and rescues happening this morning.

I'm sure things will calm down later this week, but rain predictions are still high for Friday and Saturday.  Low water crossings will be closed and some roads will most likely be impassable throughout the Hill Country well into Sunday.  (Remember, flooding comes up fast in this area and can strand you in minutes!)

Stay tuned and Stay safe y'all!

I'll try to put up some updated posts periodically.

Please feel free to PM me if you cannot find updated info in your area...

90% chance of rain in Dallas Friday + 90% chance of rain in Fredericksburg on Saturday = not looking good, at all.   Cry

I think this is getting scrapped.  Rain is one thing, but flooding is a whole other level of bad.  Let's talk about a date in the spring to go.

Right now, we're under a Flash Flood Watch through 7:00 PM Thursday.  They're saying as much as 4 inches of rain could fall in parts of the Hill Country in the next 24 hours.  Does not look good...

My son's High School cancelled their Homecoming Parade today which is a big deal.   Undecided
I'm hoping we can have our Homecoming game Friday night!

Getting out of DFW Friday on two wheels would have been a sopping wet affair and it didn't seem worth it looking at the Fredericksburg forecast for Saturday with 60-70% rain.

Saturday in DFW is forecast to be 0-1% chance of rain.

Saturday in Fredericksburg started at 15-20% chance, but the afternoon is 1-2% with 70-72 degrees.  GRRR

Amen.  Weather forecasters.  Had multiple events cancel on Wednesday based upon the forecasts for today.  Now, every one is watching a nice day.  And my performers are watching TV.

Today, we had a cloudy day with nothing more than sprinkles off and on.  Earlier this evening the clouds parted and the moon shown through for the first time in a while...yea!

Our homecoming game went well -- in the rain -- Friday night with a 70-0 win.

S'posed to have no rain tomorrow (Sunday).  The lawn is overgrown, but so wet that I'd leave some impressive ruts if I mowed.  Guess i'm gonna have to ride the Valk instead...YESSSS!
