Guys,
As I posted earlier, I am converting the super valk back to IS form for a 2up trip this weekend. It has 11.5" progressive shocks in the rear and progressive springs up front. QUESTION: Can/should I re-install the factory IS rear shocks to get back the travel and load capabilities for the trip? Is this going to cause problems in handling or high speed stability? My wife isn't a big woman, 160lbs +- and our gear for the weekend... would it be enough to "level" out the bike?
Thanks for the experience, hope you all had a great 4th and apologies for the IDIOTS who protested the Marine Corp Band....forking morons!!!

I think the original OE 13" Showas (set to a higher dampening rate) would be better than short 11.5s PS (for any and all riding), but I have no idea how good they are anymore (19yo?).
Even brand new PS 11.5 412s have very little travel.

Were it me, I'd definitely switch back. Would the stock shocks give you trouble on reaching the ground ?

I am more concerned about the "rake" of the bike and how that will affect handling. I don't want it to end up like a moonshine running 69 charger....

The rake (angle) of the forks is unaffected by the rear shocks.
The bike was level as delivered with OE 13" shocks (with or without Progressive springs in the forks).

"moonshine running 69 Charger" you'll be fine.

If the front and rear was lowered and I raise the rear...that would lead to an uneven height, sorry for intentionally misusing the term rake.

Lowering the front by slipping the forks only give a (very) little bit of lower. So if you are seeking perfection, go back to the OE shocks, and unslip the forks back to where they should be.
If you're 6'2" this is better for you anyway.
I'm 5'9" and would not lower my Valks at all. I already drag parts every ride as it is.

Thanks Guys, I bought the bike "super" and lowered. I drag stuff WAY before I want to all the time!!! I will try the longer shocks and see how it feels. Thanks for the advice gentlemen.
