Ok not like Twilight Zone strange but was just curious about something, its kind of a weird thing.
I notice that when I drive along cruising at various speeds all the birds ahead that are on the side of the road fly away. No other car or truck does it and I keep wondering what it is. The bike is all stock so its not an aftermarket add on so its not loud. I have tried to come off the throttle or slow down and nothing seems to change, they still fly away.
It must be the sound of the engine that scares them but was wondering if anyone else noticed it. ???
i was just wondering because while I dont encounter to much other wild life, I was wondering on my night rides if this would detour some animals from jumping out and if anyone else noticed this.

all the birds ahead that are on the side of the road fly away.Could it be your face? (sorry, couldn't resist) My 1500 bikes are not loud (though the piggies are gone one one), but I have always had birds that seem competitive (or curious), and want to fly around or along with me regularly. (I don't think it's my face)

If these birds are chickens, then clearly you have discovered the answer to the age old question, they are just trying to cross the road to see the other side of your bike.
My guess is the chrome. Maybe the sparklies are scaring them off.

Actually, Robert Yesterday we were out for the day riding and I saw a couple of deer in the field and they were staring right at me and following me with their eyes. They turned their heads quite a bit to keep me in their view. I don't know if it was a sound my bike was making, or they just couldn't get over how gorgeous my bike is. As for the crows, I have to honk my horn at them to leave the road kill alone and get out of my way.

Robert, try some deodorant! They were in front of me but come to think of it, maybe that is why there are no cars behind me.

It happened all the time when I was riding my Valk. Usually they flew the opposite direction but on one occasion 3 pigeon size birds (quail?) flew out of the brush before dawn with two of them hitting the bike and my knee.
It happens to a much lesser extant on my F6B with stock exhaust. I always assumed it was something about the flat six sound.

It was news worthy that a high number of birds were being killed on Boston Massachusetts highways. So the state assembled several groups of observer's. They noted that as the birds landed on the highways to feast on road kill, the other birds would yell Cahr Cahr every time a car came along and they would fly to safety. However when a Tractor Trailer came along they would not say anything.
