One of our members in the Fresno VRCC has a 98 standard. He called me and said he took a ride and got behind a car and noticed he had no headlight. He hit the switch up for highbeam and still had nothing. Rode her home, shut her off and restarted the bike. The headlight come on as it should. Next morning no headlight on start. We are having a valk workday on saturday so we will look at it. Any thoughts on the cause of this. I think the bulb may be going bad but normaly they work or they dont. Also the started button works fine. No sticking,  Thanks

I'd do the starter switch maintainence. The Starter switch will kill the headlights when starting the bike.
I've had the problem of headlight not working and this solved the problem.

Below is the link with a better explaination and instructions on how to do the maintainence.

Can't say this will be the problem, but it's a good place to start.

Assuming you checked the fuse, closely.
Removing and cleaning up the starter button has worked for me.
