The rust you see on the muffler is worst than it appears to be. The chrome protection 18417-MJR-671 is loose and it's not the 90112-MCA-000 bolt gone (because it is gone !), not even the chrome protection 18417-MJR-671 which is rusty, it's the muffler itself ! There's no way to bolt the chrome piece to the muffler because the fasteners of the muffler are gone, because of the rust ! If you look carefully, you see a black piece of plastic I've stuck today under the screw in order to maintain the chrome protection 18417-MJR-671 in place ... more or less ! I don't intend to buy any aftermarket muffler (expensive and noisy, not for me) so I hope this bizarre makeshift will hold ! And my bike is brand new though, only 4 years old and 58,400 miles on the clock !

It wouldn't look great, but not that bad either. What about a big wide muffler clamp of some sort? I suppose the rust will defeat that too.... eventually. Ride over to a local custom muffler shop, and see what they have (or can get).

What caused the rust L? Do you have your PRT routed incorrectly?

Better!
I was hoping you were going to ask me what the PRT is (pilot relief tube, so the aviator can pee without exiting the cockpit).

Come on Ledany a hose clamp That piece is only welded on the muffler on the bottom and under the cowl at the top. If you reweld those points it will not be seen. If you take a piece of stainless steel sheet metal and it can be fairly thin but about 3/4 inches wide and bend it around the exhaust and either weld it on, or where the ends come together secure it with a bolt like the hose clamp it will look like a bigger version of the clamp. The stainless can be polished so it will look like chrome and will look like a connection between the two instead of the seam. Coat the rusting chrome with a product that will stop corrosion and you should be good to go.

@Robert : I do admire your technical thinking but in the old world I guess the situation is fairly different. First, we don't have any muffler shop around here. If you need a muffler, you have to go to the dealer's or to any aftermarket shop.Welders have disapeared too. Second, I understand that my makeshift may hurt but : - it's cheap ! - Easy et quick - IRL, it doesn't look so weird (compared to the straps you see now, which get dirty rapidly). My bike will soon have 60,000 mls on the clock = time to change the mufflers anyway. I have to check if the aftermarket mufflers for the standard GW are easy to adapt. Someone on eBay was selling a left scratched Valk muffler 145 $ (+ 69$ postage). I'd rather look for the Two Brothers exhaust, brand new

You know someone here cut up a good muffler and put pics of it on this board. If he still has it laying around and didn't complete the project maybe you could get the chrome cover off his. My idea does not require any welding in fact you may be able to use high temp epoxy on the cover to hold it on and the band is only a flat piece of metal with holes in the end and a bolt. Just a couple of other thoughts the muffler is stainless steel and is probably fine how about seeing what is under the chrome and putting on some kind of sleeve on it or painting it with high temp paint. Its only a cover so you could put on what ever cover you would like also. Thought this may help in your brainstorming and figuring out what to do. Like I said it would be kind of cool to put some kind of carbon fiber cross hatch cover on the stock exhaust. It also gives you an idea of shape if you want to go aftermarket. How about buying a truck stack like this cutting it and slipping it over the OEM exhaust. Just another idea. You would have to make sure it will fit and measure the diameter but you could even get it in a color. Dont think it would take to much modification and if you cut to length and then cut a slit down the cover and slip it on the exhaust you may not even have to change the hanger position. https://www.ebay.com/bhp/4-chrome-stack

Thanks again Robert for your help but I guess I'm going to disapoint you again The carbon fiber cross hatch is a very good idea but I can't figure how it could be made around here. I don't think the muffler is made of stainless steel, otherwise the fasteners wouldn't have almost all disapeared. My mufflers are entirely pulverulent brown under the chrome covers I see you guys overseas love the technical challenges and the access to hardware stores seems to be so usual and easy. Not here !

Ledany, The only aftermarket exhaust for our bikes are Torq Masters. https://www.torqmasterpipes.com/product-category/f6c-valkyrie/The other pipes for the F6B and full wing have the exhaust mount much further back and are about 5" longer that the Valk's exhaust and you will probably have droning. I did when I put on my Rush pipes and I had to get Torq Loopz to get rid of it. BUT, I have a nice set of OEM pipes that I could let you have for $400 Canadian plus shipping. I can send you some pictures if you want. Brian UpdateI checked on shipping from Canada to France for them and it was ridiculous, @ $300.

Brian, you are not far from the U.S., check on shipping from there. My company deals with people who ship from the U.S. every day and it is much cheaper and quicker.
