Having my Cobras "ceramicized" out at Moores in Nebraska.  Does anyone know if the Cobras come apart at the seam between the header pipe and the muffler?  Hope thats the right terminology.

Zep, are you doing the whole exhaust or just the front header?  Be sure to post pictures when you get them back.

I installed a set on my Valk a couple months ago and believe they're welded. Like T-Bird said, I'd like to see pictures when done too. cooldude

OK, Ill keep you posted.  Pat out at Moores says that the process is hot enough that if they only do the header pipes the Chrome on the muffler ends will blue.  So Im deciding wether  to have the header pipes done matte black and the mufflers done cermachrome, a polished look that does not shine quite as much as chrome or have the whole thing done back or cermachrome.  I believe it would look like the aluminum wheels when they are polished up nicely.
Anyway their web page is moorepower.com.  Take a look at their product and see what you think.  Ill be sending mine in when the Valk is put to bed for the winter.  Ill also get a price.  Ill also probably be asking you guys what color coatings you think would look the "baddest" as I show this bike two or three times a year.  Take care.

I had these ceramic coated years ago and they still look great cost was $155.00 . I had the entire header coated back to the weld.

I painted these with black stove paint cost about $10.00 again painted back to the first weld.

I just installed these Rivco covers I bought used for a hellofa lot more than I could have bought new one's when Rivco still made them....Yeah I wanted them  Shocked

Hey Smokin Joe,

Who did your pipes?  Do you know how they got them up to temp without blueing the muffler sections?

I dropped them off and went back a few days later and picked them up. They do ship with UPS so you can send them and they'll ceramic coat and ship back to you. Only silver and black was available when I had mine done but he said they was planning to add more colors .

Interesting topic

I'm not sure if the concern is the pipes rusting and so forth do to weather or bluing do to
the non double wall  like the O.E.M. Pipes.

Reason I ask is ...

When I rode a Harley some years ago , when I bought new Pipes , I ceramic coated mine
but that was on the inside

To prevent bluing. ( did nothing for the outside to protect from rusting do to weather though).

What are the covers Joe is referring to in this post??  Are they covering the header pipes, if so how are they attached?

Rivco made them but nolonger they like many others have dropped the Valkyrie like a used condom...They cover the header and attach with spring hooks into holes that are opposite of each other . If you can find them you will pay for them unless you luck out and find some the owner does'nt know the worth unfortunately for me the owner I got mine from was well aware of the value .

Any close up Pictures ?  I suspect your talking about Chrome Covers for the Exhaust somewhat seen on many Harleys.  Just hard to tell by the far away Picture.

Thanks

Sorry about the strap I keep it strapped cause my Grand-Daughter Presley loves to climb on my bikes I don't think she's big enough to turn it over on her but I'm taking no chances.Photo shows the springs that hold them on.

Joe, thanks for the info, I think I have a set of those if I can just find them.
If they fit up flush against the header pipe, do they not get hot enough to turn blue also?  ???
