As Jerry mentioned, the mishap apparently occurred sometime Thursday morning or perhaps earlier.  I got a text at 10:32 am that morning: "Wrecked bike, in hospital several broken bones punctured lungs etc." Definitely NOT the kind of message any of us wants to get.  He said his wife and son were there with him - so I suppose it even could have happened the previous day.

A little later, he texted the following pics of his bike.

Poor bike, and Ron too. At least he is alive to talk about it. I hope they caught the black suv and threw the book at them. Ron loves his bike and this valkyrie community.  He knows if he needs anything he can call me.  cooldude

The crash happened Wednesday.  The police report does not mention any vehicle other than Ron’s motorcycle so it appears to me that the suv driver got away free and clear.  Sorry sob!

Good for Carl, I am sure Ron will appreciate the visit.

I missed a call from Ron this morning but he left a message.  He said he was able to get around but could not use his hands or arms.  He is still obviously enjoying the benefit of some good drugs.  Said he still has drain tube in his lung that was punctured.

Thanks for the update Jerry. It's going to be a long, tough slog for him I'm sure. Drugs are good right now.

Ron is in good spirits but in a noticeable amount of pain.  The ribs are especially bothersome when he coughs or laughs.

He and Alice are hoping he will be released to go home Monday but it will depend upon the state of the chest tube.

He has road rash pretty well completely on the left side top to bottom.  Well, beyond the bottom as well.  He has rash across his nose.  With rash on one hand and a cast on the other he has no hand to use.  Alice feeds him and ...

The bike has been taken back to Kentucky.  Alice says it appears to have rolled both side over side and end over end.

It was good to see Ron in good spirits.

Ron says the chest tube is out and in 3 more hours will have an x-ray to be sure the lung is functioning properly. If all is good he will head home in the morning!

An online pic of Ron is a rare thing, I’m not sure why he doesn’t want to be found. Grin  Some time back there was a group pic on here of a get together that included both Ron and Charlie (Landelephant) and I hardly recognized either of them as they had lost so much weight since I had seen them in person. Don’t remember who had posted it so I don’t know how to find it now.

After some sidetrackin I just got back from Columbia visiting with his Wife Alice and of course Ron-A K A Rams. Just before I got to his room he informed me the chest tube had been removed and they were waiting bout 3 hours to take another X-ray of his lung to make Sure it weren't collapsing. While he and I and his lovely Wife enjoyed the visit you just KNOW he is hurting. Should he in fact be released 2moro he IS Released to go home and rest and let broken bones knit back together. For a guy that unloaded Hard he don't look to awful bad-BUT then he informed me-ya outa see the road rash-uh-NO THANKS.  Roll Eyes He is in good spirits and would like to get back to his own casa. His Wife is in complete concurrence with That idea.
And one more small item. While those cards have been sent he is NOT in possession of them cuz of the room # snafu but he hopes to have them at checkout. Keep the Prayers ongoing for Ron. Glad it was close enough for that visit today. RIDE SAFE.

I was concerned about the room number SNAFU as well, and was hoping he didn't miss all of the well-wishes he's had coming his way from coast to coast.  But I figured that as soon as he got home he would be able to read all of the peoples' stuff who responded to his time of need.  Heal fast, Rams!  So glad you're lookin' at homeward-bound!!   Cool

Glad to hear he is on his way home, or soon on his way.  I plan to ride down to visit him in the near future--first decent weekend we get after all this rain leaves.  Want to let him get settled in.  Broken ribs take a while to heal.

Ron texted me that as he sat waiting for release (to travel home to Kentucky) Guest Services walked in with an inch thick pile of get well notes.  He has limiting typing capability right now and for a while so he will not be able to thank each one as he would like to but I told him I would alert the board.

You have done well and encouraged Ron during this trying time.
