Has anyone else chromed there Grab Rails?

I think they should have come from the factory either chromed or black power coated.

They look great,  cooldude   I have wanted to do mine for some time just have not done it yet.

The questions are who did it, how much and how long.

Another reason was I have not really found someone I really trust to chrome them. I have the Chinese front cover on but want the OEM cover chromed also and then will put that on.

How about a side shot.

Pic #5 is the closet I have to a full side shot.
The rails actually look better in person than in photos.
Look much Bolder being chromed.

The work was done by a shop just outside of Pittsburgh.
He charged me $180 for the two.
Had them done in three days.  Just depends on how busy he is.
He ended up doing more work than he bargained for though due to after he removed the paint there was a lot of pitting from the casting of the aluminum..
I am VERY pleased with the outcome.

He has people mailing him parts from all over the country.
This seems to be a dying art.
Saw some nickel work done as well for older cars before chrome came into being.
Pretty cool.

Not sure what he would want for the valve covers but thought about getting them done as well.

You can email me if you want the address phone number etc.

Those look much better than I would have thought.  Really works with the red bike.  Good move.  I bought a black one and knew that Honda made black grab rails for the blue model, so I went to order two in black.  What could they cost?  Holy crap!  $205, EACH!  I took mine off, brought them to a local powdercoater, and had them done (perfectly, in an almost flat, satin black.  Looks great on my black bike.  And they only charged me $40, for the pair.  I'm pretty sure that if I had chrome ones my wife would have them scratched up in no time.  "Rings on her fingers, bells on her toes", as the song goes.  The powdercoating has stood up to them well.

Hey thanks for the additional pics, it looks really sweet. I'm glad you had it done it was the last thing I was thinking about on the bike and you confirmed it.

KUGO has some good points for scratches but really my other half does not ride with me much so the only problem I should have is the cargo net and bungee cord I put on for pizza or food runs. The rear cargo rack gets a rag over it when anything is on it since it scratches so easily. I really dont remember chrome being that easy to scratch either but, oh well.

Going to PM you for the number, cost, quality, all seem good, thanks for helping with the last piece of the puzzle.  cooldude

FyI , I was not talking about the valve covers since I already have the same ones as you. I was talking about the front timing cover the one in the very front of the bike. I bought a Chinese one and I really like it but always knew I would chrome the OEM cover so this will be it.

I can confirm that they look better in person.

I plan to take my front fender from my 1973 Honda CB750-4 to this "chromer" in the near future after seeing the results of Jim's rails.

Carl

If I had the blue Valkyrie (which almost got before I picked up the F6B) I would keep them black to match the rest of the blacked out parts.

Those look really awesome chromed. They really make the back end of the bike. I got mine powder coated so that they would blend in with my black bike but if I was going with black and chrome that would really pop.
