Author Topic: Other Honda models with 1" diameter bars - master cylinder questions  (Read 1087 times)

Latest project with my I/S is to Turn It Black(TM), and this involves the master cylinders.

I bought a used pair from a parted-out '04 GL1800, thinking I might use them in place of the stock F6 units. Wrong...they're for a 7/8" bar, although I did get a nice set of black levers with them.

So...here's a question or two for the board:

Are there other Hondas (or any other bikes, for that matter) which use this style Nissin master cylinder on a 1" diameter handlebar? Are any of those master cylinders found in black?

Back in the day, a lot of people were chroming the stock master cylinders. Doing this required the sight glasses to be pressed out then back into place after the job was finished. Is there a write-up somewhere in the Archives which shows the procedure, in the event one wanted to powdercoat or paint the stock cylinders?

Open to other suggestions as well. Also going to list the '1800 master cylinders in our Classifieds - cheap - unless someone PMs me with an offer I can't refuse.

I went parts fishing this morning after reading your reply and found the 2014 parts. Those will be sourced over the winter.

Thanks again for replying.

I've heard of people swapping out the valkyrie clutch master cylinder with a VTX 1800 one because it's apparently easier to pull.  So, that would indicate that VTX 1800s have 1" bars... hope that broadens your search.  Maybe try ebay?

The problem is...they're all brushed silver finish.

Trust me, I've beaten eBay to death over the past few days looking for a source for these.  uglystupid2
