Mileage 65875

East TN

« on: November 17, 2009, 12:19:21 PM »

I only have 54,000 Valk miles so I'm far from being an expert. But today I had
to pull into a parking lot and WORK on my Valk!! Riding down I-26 I noticed one
of my Bakers was wobbling, so I hit the next exit and found out one of the bolts
was loose. Took off the seat, dug out the toolkit, tightened the bolt (and checked
the others) packed up and hit the road again. I know, technically it wasn't the Valk
that had the major mechanical malfunction, it was a bolt-on accessory. But still, I'm
out almost 5 whole minutes of riding time.....in only 54,000 miles!!! What's next?
Another headlight bulb? Angry

I don't know what you paid for it.  I don't know how long you've owned it.  But is it possible it's still covered under some part of the warranty?   I hate to see you get taken like this.   Five minutes, is five minutes, you know.   Things like this should never happen until at least 90-100k miles. tickedoff

Bob I am so sorry you had to experience this and all by yourself too. I'm just glad you had the mechanical ability to handle that on your own. I certainly hope this is an isolated incident and not a bike wide problem. When and if I get my Bakers Wings, I will pay particular attention to this so as not to be in the same situation as I'm not the greatest mechanic. Again glad you weren't left completely stranded and congrats on your master tech abilities.  cooldude

I once had the wire to the kill switch broke right up in the middle of the harness going to the handle bars. Bypassed the switch (at the switch) and that didnt work so we looked inside the headlight, pulled out some grass and dirt and when I pulled on the wires one of them was broken in the middle of the wire loom! Took 2 days to get that pile of honda back on the road.  tickedoff

Yeah, you gotta watch those unreliable Valks.  Two weeks after I bought mine, they had a recall, a RECALL! on the rear license plate bracket!  I had to take it in for a replacement (bracket that is).

Something about Honda buying that part from HD!, jes kiddin' for you harley riders.

Sounds like your about to have multiple major issues, I'd unload it if I were you.  I'd be willing to take it off your hands, but it ain't worth much what with all the mechanical issues and such.  I'm willing to take a chance to help a brother out. Roll Eyes Cheesy

Replaced the right front turn signal bulb a couple years ago.
Other than that, no hits, no runs, no errors.

Wink Ya'll with those heavily customized Valks with your bolt on wings...if you ride stock they don't come loose.

No one told me that they'd be nut twisting involved in owning this bike.
