For longer trips, I removed my passenger backrest and used the Honda luggage rack to mount my Givi Monokey mount plate. I have an E55 Maxia 3 hard case that looks pretty good on there, and it has a foam backrest pad installed. I decided to get another rack to install with the normal passenger backrest for normal day-to-day use, rather than remove the Givi plate every time (it's not too pretty by itself).

I saw a Honda one in the classifieds, but have been thinking about a Cavalry Customs one. Looks decent. Anybody have one and care to discuss the quality of said unit? Here's an Ebay link (it's cheaper than on their website).  https://www.ebay.com/itm/Luggage-Rack-for-Honda-Valkyrie-GL1500-OEM-Sissy-Bars/281942942090?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I have a couple of Givi trunks as well. I'd much rather have the
sturdy folded metal rack you are looking at than the square-section-tube
OEM rack. I know of people whose OEM racks have broken under the
stress of hauling around a trunk...

That’s what mine had when I got it in April  2016 I use it daily weather permitting. I put my cooler with 8 drinks and my lunch. Oh I put in two big freezer blocks with my drinks. When I travel I have a big bag  that get strapped on. Never a doubt it will hold. I do put a towel down first to keep scratching to a minimum. I would recommend one. I’m 6’2”&265lbs and I bet I could climb on it and bounce my bike with out a issue.  cooldude

It seems y'all have convinced me. I guess I'll get the Cavalry one and use it for the trunk mount, and keep the Honda one for my daily use to hold a small bag that's also strapped to the passenger backrest. Thanks for the input. I'd never have thought that the Honda one would be the weak one of the two.
