i finished the install on my wifes interstate for those that wonder were to put the control unit they fit nice in the front fairing i have in stalled 4 of these so far every one of them went well i tried to put the control under the seat but the radio said no way so i started looking for a big dead area and their is tons of room up front  the cable routing was easy too i have never removed the carbs or air box to install them i will post pic when i get time . so far the hardest on to install was on the 750cvt  i had to made up the linkage to twist the round disk it works well..  the easiest one was my boys 1981 goldwing
the valks are a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 and only pulled vac from 3 cyl on the valk but did add a small storage can on them  these cruise controls are no longer made and i googled it every day until i found one listed for under 100.00 shipped
after my wife crashed hard on the vt  using a throttle lock i wanted a better way to know the cruise would release quickly every time., i have never seen a throttle lock that did not drag when released

I've done two I/S s and put the servo and the canister under the fairing. On the tourer and the standard I did I put the servo behind the battery in the tool box and the canister either under the swingarm or in the engine compartment after desmogging the bike. I use my CC every time I ride and would be lost without it.

I am also hoping to put an audiovox on IS this winter.  Any more details or pics on install would help.  Any details on mounting in fairing?  Any pics?

Thank you very much.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I helped do one last Feb on a I/S. We desmogged and put the PVC on top of the engine. The servo we put into the fairing. We took off the left side inner fairing. Slid the servo up there behind the rubber flap. If need to access it later, it could be done by removing left wing and working under the flap. It was easier then taking the whole shell off.

Just a reminder that the canister is not necessary. I have mine attached to #3 & #4 intakes with a check valve in each line. They are tee'd together and run straight to the servo. I have run in the mountains of NC with no problems. Love that lil 'ol cruise control Smiley

I do not plan on using a cannister, just a couple ports with check valves, like you suggest.  Thanks for the reminder.

I have 3 ports with check valves Tee'd together.  As long as there is a check valve for each port, before any Ts etc, no canister is needed.  Has worked fine touring on an IS 2 up through the western mountains at 80+mph.

The Audiovox kit has a pair of plates for clamping 2 cables together side by side.  If one is reversed, so the cable curves "spoon" into each other, they make a perfect clamp for the throttle bar linking the carb banks.  The kit has a bead chain connector that fits the cable clamp bolt.  Attach the bead chain, clamp onto the bar, snug it down (not too tight yet).  Velcro the throttle grip open; slide the clamp to the left on the bar to a position that will allow the cruise to operate properly at speed, (i.e. the clamp needs to be pretty far to the left) and tighten.  It then may take mild adjusting, but  I suspect this method is much easier than the other attachment methods I've seen.

Can someone point me to the Audiovox Kit for the Valk?

Thanks

As far as I know, about the only other one that will work is the MC Cruise?  Do I have the name right?  Out of Australia.  But, it costs about $700, instead of $100.  It is a good unit, but $$$.

MikeB /Other readers
DId you install a PVC vacuum canister?
Does anyone knowwhere to get the 1/8 inch plastic hose fittings. I thought the instructions called for 5/ 32 hose. Does that fit a 1/8 barbed fitting??? The fitting on the tech board looks like an F and I cant find that anywhere?

Andy, if you're putting it on a Valk, you don't need avacuum canister.  The fat girl produces enough vacuum to handle it.  Just make yourself up some vacuum lines with the one way valve and run it back to the servo.

One more question.Wiring is done and vacuum and hose and three check valves ready to go in to unused vacuum ports..........The Shop Talk instructions call for a bracket to be fabricated and mounted to the top of the engine and when I pulled the bolt shown ...

http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/cruise_files/bolt01b.jpg

it had oil on the bottom. I noticed the hole for this bolt is open to the engine compartment and the washer is gasketed/ If I simply put the bracket down and add a bolt it could leak.Other folks here suggested crush washers and gasket seal to seal the area .. any other thoughts? I was hoping to find a double ended stud with a nut sealed in the middle but no luck so far....

Nice thing about an IS model is that a fully electric Cruise is made for it. Or it might be better to say it was made for the electric cruise from Rostra.

If you want Pics and some of the story drop me a e-mail. GAllen(delete)@lewiscounty.com

When was the last time you saw a vacume unit on a new car?

Both the control head and the cable stay on the engine and the cable connection is to the cross link and nowhere near the factory cables. Nothing to hang up or tangle together.

If the housing was chromed it would look even better.

I've mounted a bracket to that bolt on all (4)  bikes that I've done and never had an oil leak. I not sure but I think that it's a blind hole. If your not sure put some sealant on the threads of the bolt before installing it.
