Just wondering what LED lamps everyone is using and the level of satisfaction with your selection. I searched the boards and found some recent (July 2018) conversations. Valkorado is happy with the ones he picked and I’m leaning that direction. Since they are improving LED replacement bulbs daily, was just wondering if someone had come up with the “bomb”.

Valkorado, Thanks for the link. One last question for you. Do you still have both high and low beams. I just watched a You Tube video where the guy said he only had high beams after replacing his bulbs. Probably not the same bulbs you suggested, but I want to be sure before I purchase.
Yup.  The lo beams are amazing, the hi beams are indescribably bright.  You'll want to hold your halogens up to these (if and) when you get them.  It is then fairly obvious how to align the bulbs, pretty much straight up and down.  There are alignment tic marks that show you where straight up is.  You will not regret the upgrade.

Here is another vendor.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Philips-G7-H4-HB2-9003-8000lm-LED-Headlight-Hi-Lo-Beam-Conversion-Kit-Bulbs/323209255650?epid=7003967324&hash=item4b40c5dae2:g:blQAAOSwvjdZU0ih

Just found a better deal here.

I followed Valkorado's suggestions as well, I really like the type of light better. I removed my fairing so I could mount the black box, there is a flat spot on the back side of the headlight housing where I used dbl face tape to secure the boxes.

Wow, you made a project out of it!  I took the lazier approach, and used zip ties to attach the ballasts to the upper fork tubes, and tucked 'em in behind the fairing.

LOL, fairing comes off pretty easy (10 min), while I had it off I modified the front turn signals to LED's, followed Steel Cowboys turn signal change to HD pancake style signals.

I actually just looked 2 nights ago after coming back from my weekly GWRRA meeting with the boys.

They use one for their GL1800 from Socalmotogear.com that they swear by for their bike. When I asked and talked about on H4 version for my IS, turned out they are using an H7 (?), and the discussion was there isn't any good one yet for one that has a dual beam (Hi/Lo).

That's why I searched the forum for the discussions from this year about replacement head light bulbs. I think it's going to come down to how much to spend. Do you buy one bulb at $65, or a set for $40, and see which one is better.

But since I bought a higher watt bulb earlier in the year, along with one of BonS's head light relayed direct power wires (Smart Switch), for the bulb, so it gets its power direct from the battery. I do very light riding in the dark, so am also more interested in being seen.

@Valkorado,
Are these the same bulbs you used?  Your links no longer work.  For '99 I/S.
Still working ok?

Sorry,  just saw this.  Those are a bit different.  I just did another search,  these are the exact bulbs I'm using.  Seems they have went up a bit.  They're still working great!

The ad is for a direct H4 head lamp. Is the I'state an H4 lamp?

I'm somewhat confused.

Partsfish shows the headlamp part number the same as an ST1100, 34901-MS2-672 . The ST1100 is not an H4 lamp. It is very similar but the 3 tabs are at different angles than an H4.  The ST1100 headlamp housing has the slots for the tabs cast into the plastic housing. It is a US DOT thing as the European ST lamp housing is cast for an H4.

Yes.  Bulb H4 #9003
Technically, no. The stock OEM bulb is different. But most everyone uses the H4 by breaking 2 of the tabs.

Sorry, I should have clarified.  (Breaking tabs off since 2005)

I got a set of LED lights from SuperbrightLEDS.com Integrated controllers so no black box to worry about.  Plug and play.
I am not 100% happy with the beam pattern but they are really quite bright

I have a similar set I installed then removed some time ago as the pattern was less than optimal.  Now my needs have changed as I run them in my spot fixtures all the time with Josh's "Dragon's Eye" main headlight, all on high daytime for safety.  Plus 2 conventional LED spot fixtures.  Sw them to low only at night with oncoming traffic.  I never get flashed and I'm definitely visible for safety daytime.  There's enough light down the road both hi and low beams for deer visibility.  Not as bright as it used to be running H4 halogens but now all 5 lights draw the same as the one 130/90 headlight used to on high beam.  Preserving my alternator now - had to replace it last year with so much load.

@Paladin528, I’m looking at the Superbright ones:
https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/motorcycle-high-beam-and-low-beam-headlight-bulb/motorcycle-h4-led-fanless-headlight-conversion-kit-with-compact-heat-sink-2000-lumens/3930/8566/?make=32&model=2656&scc_id=1940&year=1998
Are these what you have?
Do they fit in the Interstate housing as-is, or do you need to cut off tabs like on the other 9003/H4 bulbs? The guy at Superbright really didn’t know...
Superbright also suggested I get the load resistor. I told them I don’t have to worry about a “bulb out message” on my “dashboard” , but they still suggested it.
Is their heat sink removable, or does this affect installation (fitting of the rubber boot?).

I’m also looking at the Cyclemax Pathfinder that some strongly recommend, wondering what makes it worth nearly 2x.  Comments welcomed.

I HIGHLY recommend Electical Connections  LED bulbs.
I have posted pictures of road views with these mounted on my IS. The difference is incredible. They are easy to install just make sure you get an H4  adapter

I looked up your thread and your link to the bulbs.
https://electricalconnection.com/index.php/product/led-headlight-bulb-h4/
I called electricalconnection (spoke with KC) to ask a few questions (may be of interest to others):
1) Warranty? 2 years
2) Need any adapters? yes, their part # 2510 ($13/pair)
3) Legal?  Legal in TN but don't know about anywhere else.
4) Need to trim rubber boot? No.
5) What is 360 degree beam angle?  Emits light a full 360 degrees.
6) What is adjustable pitch angle?  They provide an allen wrench to make adjustments to the angle of the bulb, but adjustment not needed for I/S.

So I still haven't decided.  Undecided
