I must inform the group of a wounded member, me.  I have tossed my back out and it was getting better until I drove Sherry’s car and something in the lumbar support position re-ignited the center of my personal universe in a nuclear way. I can’t put my own sox on at this point. Yes have the feeling I will be missing a good chunk of the best temperatures and rides the season gives.  Carry on and take pictures.

Get well.  I use an inversion table when my back gets out of whack. I wish we were close I'd say come over and giver a try.  Back gone AWOL really sucks

Angry Ouch, I hate that for you Jerry. Just that position tweaked your back like that. Hopefully it will not be as bad as you suggest.  Undecided Back issues should not be taken lightly. I've had family with some serious back issues. Prayers added to my list for you my friend for a speedy recovery.  angel

Pick up some Lidocane patches, they really help. I threw mine out last year and the doctor suggested them. Really help cutting down on the pain.

Jerry,
I know what you're going through. I've had back issues for years. Rest is the best thing you can do, at least it is for me.
Hope you heal fast!

I've had on and off back issues for years.  I don't have any herniated disks (HNP), but there's some good arthritis down there (low back).

I've done most of the regular home treatment for this (heat/cold, stretches, rest, pain pills rarely, yada)

What works best for me, is to go for slow walks, even if it hurts and even if I look like the hunchback of Notre Dame going down the street.  Working the back muscles and vertebra, slowly back and forth from stepping along really helps to align the vertebra, and warm up the muscles.

Of course, bad backs can be bones and/or muscles.

Walks when I am hurting are not gauged in distance, only time.  Thirty to even 40 minutes does me a world of good, though at the time I am generally not enjoying it.  I've been so bad, I did not want to go out in the neighborhood, so I did circles around my back yard.

Hey you........
Lesa and I have an inversion table if you think you would like to try it.
One way or another we will get it down to you if you would like?
It helped mine when I hurt it a couple years ago.

Sorry to hear about the back pain. I have pain in my lower back almost every morning when I get up, but it usually goes away within 5 minutes. This is definitely muscle pain, and if it occurs during the day, a liberal application of Icy Hot and a few minutes witht recliner on heat and vibrate usually does the trick. Wait until you hit 70.....   I get out of my chair and I sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies.......

Sorry to hear. The inversion table works great but my uncle (back problems for years) decided to try acupuncture when his  chiropractor retired. He swears by it, said his back has never felt better.
Prayers for you and get well soon. Happy new year

Yep...have also done accupuncture........believe it or not.
Went to a fellow out in California when I was out there visiting and he had studied under some of the best before he moved to the states.
I had either three or four treatments and after the third treatment it made me a believer! Back was better for a few years. He said he was stimulating muscles in my lower back that were hard to make work. Whatever, it worked.

Here I is....full of needles and voltage!

I feel your pain!  My back has been out for a little over a month now.
I have been to the chiropractor several times been to the Orthodontist twice tried shots and muscle relaxants and here I sit with a heating pad.  My issue is muscular not surgical so given enough time I will get better I wish you a speedy recovery!

Sorry to hear this, and agreed time will get it back to where it needs to be.

I am better but not 100%. I am riding but not organizing any rides at this point. Sherry and I have been doing about 100 mile rides and that is fine for now.   cooldude

Chiropractors are good if you don't use one that twists you around like a pretzel and yanks on you until something pops. I've used one for years that only uses various directions of pressure against the offending area, only once has he popped my neck and it was after I got rearended a few years ago. After that session the extreme headache was gone within a half hour. I have a lower back injury from an accident in the service, didn't bother me much until 20 yrs. after discharge so by that time I had no proof. Now about every 10-12 yrs. I get a series of injections and I'm good. Since the sacrum was partially dislocated at the time, it now wants to go out fairly often....most likely due to the years of wear. When it does, the entire right side of my back will start with a slight pain in back above the right hip. If I let it go, before long all the muscles down the right side of the spine become overworked trying to pull it back in place and it goes all the way up to the back of my head. The muscles eventually will start to spasm and that's when the REAL pain sets in. The chiro puts me on a table to check the neck alignment first, then on a tilting table where he moves that hip back into alignment. Some ice and rest for a couple days and I'm back to normal....at least with my back. After going to a twisting type of chiro I was in worse shape that before I went there so have never gone back.
