The date and Hotel are set. You can book now:
Park a Way Motel Newberry, MI 906 293-8342
say "GiG Up North" Aug 9 & 10. Rooms range from $62 to $84 depending.
The "Evening Star" Motel is on the same property, same PH #, same owner. Has nice pool with retractable roof, near Tahquamenon Falls.
I have reservations and the desire to go visit with my friends. So far, things appear to be allowing me to go. Won’t ride up there, just don't have the stamina to make it on The fat lady. But she and I are planning on making this journey. She’ll be on the trailer. I’ll be in the air conditioned cab. It is, what it is... Rams

Gig, Just to clarify the ride is on Saturday, correct? The dates that are quoted above are the nights that we should have reservations at the hotel, correct? I made reservations early on but made them for the 8th, 9th and 10th of August and I’m questioning whether not I need the room for the 8th. Please clarify for those of us who are intellectually challenged. Rams

I am leaving from the Cincinnati area on Thursday around 1:00 and following 127 up to Cement City, MI where I am hooking up with Henry008. Meeting at Artesian restaurant that Gig mentioned earlier at 7:00 PM. We are spending the night just north of Lansing at a Sleep Inn then heading north in the AM toward Harbor Springs to ride M-119 "Tunnel of Trees" route, then over to the Mackinaw Bridge and on toward GZ. Expect to arrive 3ish. Anyone wants to hook up, send me PM.

Due to reasons beyond my control, I have to miss this wonderful ride up to the UP . I have struggled with this for weeks now. My two best friends, brothers at that. Their Mother passed away in April. At her request there were no services but they said a celebration of life would follow. Go ahead guess when that celebration is. These guys and their parents I have known for close to 50 of my 57 years. I was welcomed into their home and many family events that I cherish like my own. I just cannot see me missing this. Soooo, I happen to have a single King room booked at ground zero in the Evening Star Hotel. if interested please let me know quickly. I will be cancelling soon. 330-842-0750

Hopefully you found the hotel by now. It’s the Evening Star hotel. My GPS took me to a location almost five mile from the actual hotel. It’s never been that far off. I had to stop at two different locations to find the Park A Way motel (which is where I reserved my room), drove past it three times. No sign. To further complicate things, Evening Star apparently just purchased the Park A Way Hotel (thus explains why there was no sign). But, we kept looking for a bunch of fat ladies and finally found them. Had a wonderful time at the cook out last night. No idea how many folks came, heard some were staying at another place, this one appears full. I know this post is of no help but, I just lucked upon it and if I gave you the address, you be just as lost as I was.. Rams

Thanks gig and Lulu for a wonderful time Saturday I did a 4 hr river ride to the falls and back Perfect weather every day, even the wind buffeting on the Bridge was cooperating (sorta) on the way home but on the way north ..... wowee that was a rush This was truly a great one..if you missed it you missed a large time On the way home Larry (3fans friend) had a check engine light came on and they stopped to get a battery north of Saginaw I texted Mark and he said they got it and were on the road in Ohio and should be home now/ Got home at 2pm Monday, odometer said 981 miles from ground zero to home but google said 1000 even (must have saved that 19 miles taking 123 instead of 2 to the Big Mac bridge) The road to visit friends is never too long. Thanks again my friends. Oss

Well, made it home. 575 miles in 4th gear. Took just over 11 even hours. The nice part was I got to do more sightseeing and stretching my legs when I stopped for gas. Now to get the Wing fixed before the DRU.
Thanks Gig & Lulu for putting the show on, it was great being with everybody.

Thanks Gig and Lulu. Great time a terrific cookout Friday night. Just what the doctor ordered after being in the saddle a while.
Nice to see old friends and make new. Foster Books (aka Wizzard) was a hoot. Mitch doing the Mitch thing and fixing bikes. Rams doing the Rams thing and kibitzing the entire time, after trailering his Valk up from Kentucky. But that's Ron.
Kieth making huge days with his side car pulled out just before Terry Stratton, Hair Teeth (Mark) and me on Sat morning. Tried to catch up on I75, but he must have been burning it 'cause we did not see him again.
Thanks to Steve Rainman Eads for leading the trip on Sat, even though we peeled off, and thanks to Skinhead for the great baked beans on Friday.
595 miles home for me mostly down I-75. Terry had another 100 or so to Lexington. Great to be home, but can't wait for the DRU next month. Hope to see you there.

Was an awesome ride. Great food, friends and large time! What else could you ask for. Thanks Theresa for all the great food, and all the work you went to. Best meal of the trip. Thanks Gig for putting this event together. Thanks Fazer for saving us a table at Legs Inn. What a great time we had and hope we can do this one again in the future. Got home at 5:30 PM after some massive backup on 94 at Michigan City but I rode the shoulder to the exit to New Buffalo and took back roads home. See some of you at the DRU. P.S. Thanks to Mitch and those who helped me with my battery problem. Got er done.

Just got home. Almost 2800 miles towing my Valkyrie. Two blown tires and one leaking valve stem requiring a new TPS on the rim but, it was worth it. Had a grand time and visited with folks I consider family. Thanks for a great gathering. Rams

Hope everyone had a good time, thank you all so much for making the trip, it was great to see everyone and hang out Finally made it home, but my router is out so I’m having a hard time posting Special thank yous are in order for Steve Rainman for leading Saturday’s ride and to Stephanie for the great job on the TShirts. Thanks to all The Yooperettes that pitched in with getting us fed! Friday’s pot luck was a success so hungry tired riders did not have to leave for food. Thank you to Skinhead for making his awesome beans and to all who donated to defray the food cost, donations exactly matched the food tab! Feedback leans towards a Yooper II in 2020, the hotel was not trashed too bad and the owners would like to see us again. The weather was almost perfect this time, cool and sunny, but we’ll see if we can improve the breeze next year for OSS. There is so much to see and do up north, a weekend is not enough time. Some of our lucky brothers are still in Yooper land, wish I was too... Thanks again to all, I will try to post something when my home router situation is resolved. Cheers, ~GiG~

Wasn't that a great ride? Thanks Gig and LuLu. And thank you for letting S&J Designs,(Stephanie), print up the ride shirts. Everyone thought they were unique. The weather was great. We started melting when we hit Kentucky on the way home. LuLu, you did a wonderful job preparing food for everyone. That was very thoughtful.

Looks like Gran Marais Michigan has a new mayor! Blue building in background is Lake Superior Brewing, serving the famous Lake Superior whitefish tacos Patio with green umbrellas is home to the edgy, but good, tattooed waiter with attitude. No notepad for party of 15, he got the orders and checks mostly right
